If this is happening, you may have the vanish modifier, which adds a major level of difficulty that requires you to memorize the pattern.
If that's not the case, then this could be an issue with your guardian. Sometimes you need to reset your guardian to avoid any weird game glitches. You can learn how to reset your guardian here. Lastly, if none of these steps have worked, please try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check the previous steps again.
