The community upgrade is complete! We hope you enjoy the updated user experience! Thank you all for your patience today as we worked through the process.

Community Upgrade & Downtime

We're excited to announce that the community platform will be undergoing a major upgrade on July 9! This upgrade will bring improvements to the performance and user experience of our community, making it easier for you to connect with others, share your thoughts, and get the most out of your community experience.

What to Expect:

  • Starting at 6 am PDT on July 9: the community will be down for a few hours while we perform the upgrade. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.
  • After the upgrade is complete, the community will be in read-only mode for a few more hours while we ensure everything is working smoothly. During this time, you will be able to read existing content, but you won't be able to post new comments or create new threads.
  • Once the read-only period is over, the community will be fully functional again, and you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits of the upgrade.

Benefits of the Upgrade:

  • Better Performance: Our upgraded platform will provide faster load times and a more responsive user interface.
  • Enhanced User Experience: The new platform will offer a more intuitive and user-friendly design, making it easier for you to navigate and engage with the community.
  • New Features: We'll be introducing some exciting new features and tools to help you get the most out of your community experience.

Community Structure Changes:
We're also making some changes to the Quest Forums to improve the experience for our members, including restructuring the forums to focus on the discussions that our community is most interested in. This reorganization has already started and will continue after the upgrade. This will mean new forums that are more focused on specific areas of interest, and archiving or merging existing ones that are no longer as active and breaking up forums that have become very active. These changes will help bring focus to conversations and make it easier for members to find relevant content and join conversations that interest them.

    «Вначале было Слово. Потом форум. Потом реструктуризация.

    Всякое обновление проходит 3 этап:
    1. Восхищение. (Ого! Новый интерфейс!)
    2. Отрицание. (Где мой пост про лазерный IWP?!)
    3. Смирение. (Ну ладно. Буду снова нажимать «обновить».)

    Is it no longer possible to mark more than one post per thread as an accepted solution?

    We could do that in the old forum, and I think it's a sensible option.

    So.... I'm experiencing something strange when I use the magnifying glass search in the forum header.
    Sometimes the search and the forum header simply disappear after I type the second letter. I have to refresh the page to get the header and the search back again.
    I can reproduce this... for example, it always happens when I type "me" (Meta?) or "oc" (Oculus?).
    Means....I can't start a search by using these words.
    Is this just me?

      There is another thing.... it's not possible to tag @MetaQuestSupport in the usual way.

      Typing the second letter results in an empty page.🙄

        Hmm, that's a strange one.

        It doesn't do it for any other letter combo I've tried, but if the popup refreshes while the name is an at sign followed by "me" it wipes the page. If you type faster and can get a third letter typed before the popup refreshes, it works fine.

        I wonder if this is some built in feature to refer to yourself but it's broken, and it coincidentally happens to be the first part of the support account's name.

      It is not just you. It really tries to load results and instead fails with errors... i can't post, because this system is bugged as hell and complains with non-existing formatting errors... ...bunch of times, and couple of subsequent errors, and then it closes itself.

      I have hard time to remember such bugged forums in a long long time.

         I "only" have the error with search and the "@" thing.
        Posting works fine for me.....luckily😅

    Show more" navigation in place of numbered pages is UX hell. Who thought that was a good idea for community of this size? It is plainly awful and should just go away. Khoros should hire someone who understand UX and UI ...

    I've always avoided the repeat login issues the forum has had over the years. But this upgrade has brought it on for me. If I close firefox and open it again, I have to log in to the forum again. I've tried clearing all Meta cookies, but there might be some other stealthy ones I've missed.

      For me, the logouts are completely random.
      Sometimes I can close the forum and Firefox, and when I reopen them an hour later, I'm still logged in... sometimes when I have several forum pages open, I get kicked off from one forum page even though I'm active on another.😂

      And I have to log in again every day..... period of being continiously logged in seems over.

        This is an issue we are tracking with the forum vendor. They have increased the timeout, so hopefully it logs you out a little less often, but the longer term fix is their "auto login" feature which is not currently working.

    I commented earlier that the new forum website appeared to be very slow (I was using Edge browser in Windows). I've just tried Firefox and performance was good. So it seems that some settings in Edge browser are the culprit. I've just tried disabling "sleeping tabs" in Edge and performance has improved a bit, but it is still quite slower than Firefox. Before everyone starts bagging Edge, the Meta forums site is the only site I have ever had such performance issues with so far. There may be some other settings in Edge that fully fix the performance issue, but I haven't figured it out yet.

    On a positive note: I like that the reply box grows to fit in what you are typing. On the previous forum it remained a tiny box with scroll bars unless you manually dragged it bigger.

    Negative note: youtube video embedding is gone. All previously embedded videos are still in the forum and work ok, but it's not possible to embed new ones.

    The viewing/editing reply HTML button is gone from the reply toolbar. That was handy when the previous forum decided to format stuff wrong (like not allow typing after an image if you inserted the image at the bottom of a post). I don't know if it's not required anymore, but I used it a lot and already went to use it today (check on the youtube embed situation) and found it gone.

    Hi. 

    Why I must login every time when I return to forum?

    Where is dark mode, my eyes are bleeding?

    Feels pretty slow, maby it get's better in time??

      Hi Choleni,

      Click the gear icon at the top right of the page.  That should provide the edit option in a drop-down menu for the original post. 
      Subsequent posts (replies) have the three dots to bring up options.
      Hope that helps.
