PTC v53 Release Megathread

Awesome !

I got PTC v53 on my QuestPro and PC about 30 min ago; they seem to be working fine thus far but I'll be sure to report any issues I encounter. 

Installed on Quest Pro and Pc few minutes ago.

On Quest Pro it updates the controllers and it changes the menu look and feel.

On Pc it updates the drivers. 

So far so good, I’m curious to discover the new features.

I just got v53 earlier today on my QPro/rtx4090 and Oculus PTC. Seems ok but I have seen a couple of bugs. I get a notification that it has detected I'm using a dfs wifi channel and this is not the case (using ch36 non-dfs). Also, for some reason ODT pixel density defaulted to 1.50 (instead of 0). I changed that back and it seems to be ok now. I reported the dfs reporting bug.

Tested with PCVR using Air Link and going in/out of PCVR/Standalone seems a little less cranky. Also, 200mbps Fixed now works better but I think I still get a slightly smoother result with 200mbps Dynamic and I cannot really see any difference in clarity between these so I'll stick with 200mbps dynamic for now.

Tested this with a few Rift, Steam, and VivePort apps, including flight sims (msfs and xp11/12) and all seems to be working fine. No noticeable differences that I can see. Of course it would be nice if Meta would include release notes on these, lol!

Edit: choosing to show installed apps instead of All seems to work properly now.

i do not like the exit button, along with the other stuff at the top, instead of the bottom. it is very frusterating and annoying. direct touch seems to be improved and will register taps easier. I don't like how when you have direct touch on it's not a separate window from your universal menu and it's just connected to it. It's ugly and I don't like the flat rectangle at the bottom. idk if this was a bug before but my touch controllers are getting better/stronger haptics while using built in keyboard. i like the new battery icon, but the distance between the notification and the explore button is ridiculous. the universal menu is way too long, and its irritating, i also dont like that there is no ability at all to pin/remove apps from the universal menu. the UI generally looks better, and is smoother. I really, really, really hate having everything at the top of your window instead of the bottom. It makes moving windows impossible. They should really make an option for it. Also does anyone have the release notes for this? Because I cannot find lease notes for version 53 anywhere. i am on a quest 2 and have not tried out pc connectivity

I'm still having issues with Meta Quest Pro waking from Sleep Mode via the Proximity Sensor as I did in v51 PTC, although it feels slightly less prevalent.

Video playback in Meta Quest Browser no longer has the weird visual artifacts that were present in v50/v51, which is great.

Lying Down Mode is awesome, but there's a bit of a bug where the Universal Menu still appears at the normal gyro state when opened inside of an app though. This behavior does not occur in Horizon Home. It also seems that turning it off doesn't actually work until next reboot either, which is a bit weird.

EDIT: Maybe it was my imagination. Strange encoder framedrop still there.

Lying Down Mode isn't disabled even if I disable option, I need restart headset to disable it... 😕

hello Ryanality , in truth all the problems reported with the V51 have not been solved because those of incompatibility with many apps remain, so much so that on many discord channels we continue to advise against updating the viewer to v51.
