It's more than 2 years ago since I played the game........ but if I remember correctly, you've to press the left control stick to open the belt inventory not the menu button.
No, the message specifically says Press the (horizontal lines) button to inspect the belt inventory. To be clear, I do indeed press the button as instructed, but when I back out (B button) I expect the message to be gone and be back to normal. But the message is still there, and the (left) control stick doesn't move me anywhere. When it first happened, and I couldn't get out so I exited and reentered the game, and now it just says to 'inspect the inventory', not 'belt', but it's still stuck.
So, I opened my game - just for you 😉
Pressing and holding the left controller stick opens my inventory belt. pressing the menu button(horizontal lines) opens the menu with kodex, tutorials, quests and so on.
And I said "press" not move, just as you did it with the right controller stick for calibration.
If this doesn't work for you, maybe uninstall/reinstall the game, or if you have an earlier save game, load this. Tab on the little arrow left from the game name in your cloud backup, it'll expand and show you more save dates.

Thanks for checking, I 'figured' it out. The problem started when I was in the desert and I found the "projector" item. When I did that, the game prompted me to check my belt inventory and use the projector. I tried to use it, unsuccessfully, but when I backed out it wouldn't let me proceed (i.e. it reverted to the 'check belt inventory' prompt). The problem is, when I backed out of the game and re-entered (at the gate where the Fates are), it was still prompting me to check my inventory (regular, not belt), and so it still couldn't move or do anything. (BTW, I did indeed try un/reinstalling, no joy). The way I got it unstuck was to go in to my inventory and then change my avatar, and that seemed to make it happy. I backed out and was able to move. So it's still a bug (I shouldn't have had to check my inventory/change my avatar at the entrance to the game), but I've gotten past it. Is there a way to report a bug to the developers?

BigBadBrad60 Glad you made some progress! As for the bug, I'm not 100% certain but I heard that the studio that made the game has been shut down. Not sure if that is correct, but I think it is. However if you go to the game in the Horizon app on your phone, scroll down near the end and there is contact information for the developer. This game has been out a long time now and I haven't experienced any bugs playing, and I'm about an hour max from the end of it. It might still be something with your download even though you are-installed. It could be a Meta bug affecting it. Update :Just checked. Yes indeed, Sanzaru Games, the developer has closed down. 😔.
BigBadBrad60 I'm near the end of the game my friend! It was a long adventure for me! As Choleni says I can confirm that you press down the left controller stick and the belt menu appears. You need to hold the stick down, not just press and release. If it says "inspect inventory" I think that might be happening because your belt has no items. Go to your inventory and check for items you can place on the belt. When I started playing this game, I was all over the place, took me a while to get the hang of it.. It took me ages to work out the belt too! 😁
