Add extra thermal cameras to Quest 3
Hello everyone! I would like to know if it is possible to add extra cameras to the Quest 3 headset. The idea is to add two small thermal cameras to the front of the headset, to obtain a passthrough with night vision. It would be an extra layer of information that helps RGB cameras see in complete darkness. Initially I think of gluing the thermal cameras to the front of the viewfinder, and connecting them by cable to a cell phone, where it obtains electrical power and image processing. Then that image should go from the cell phone to the Quest 3 wirelessly. I was analyzing the documentation, and I think this could be done through the Passthrough.API, Android Camera2.API, your opinion on this would be very useful. I am a person with a visual condition called retinitis pigmentosa, which causes night blindness and decreased peripheral visual field. Therefore, it would be miraculous for me (and for many others), to be able to have night vision, but also assistance for low vision, such as contouring people, objects, steps, obstacles and all kinds of dangers. Thank you very much for your time. And thank you very much to META for giving us this wonderful technology that improves our lives in many ways. And also for opening the passthrough code!! This is one feature I love about the Quest 3. I play all my games this way. But now I'm a bit worried I'll be stuck with Meta headsets in the future. I can't imagine using a headset that don't have this feature.wukanru13 months agoHonored Guest23Views0likes1Comment3D model of the room
I started developing for Quest3 but I'm stuck and not making much progress... So far, I've got pass-through working and added collision detection to the scanned room model. Next, I want to bring the scanned 3D model into a Unity scene so I can edit it, but I'm stuck because I don't know how to do it... Any ideas on how to make this work, or even a little advice, would really help.chacha.5370393 months agoHonored Guest17Views0likes1CommentCan AI really learn from play?
I’ve been reading about how play can enhance learning, and it got me thinking about AI. Can our models really learn from playful interactions? I feel like a virtual world could be the perfect setting for this kind of exploration. Has anyone experimented with this? What are your thoughts on using play as a learning tool for AI?sulanmu73 months agoHonored Guest3Views0likes0CommentsWondering who I can share my virtual reality game ideas with
Good day everyone, i have a really great idea for a game. It will be a crowd pleaser for all ages, guaranteed! with plenty of upgrade/addons! More of a beginners game aimed at people who are starting on oculus so they can get used to the controls I guess How do I get someone onboard to develop a protype of what I’m thinking? I don’t want any revenue, but hey it it makes it to the top and your feeling generous 💆‍♀️🙋‍♀️Radzcee4 months agoHonored Guest33Views0likes2CommentsShared Mode - storing app data across sessions
We’re working on integrating a new license system for our VR training app and were hoping to get insights on two related issues we’re facing — particularly in the context of Meta for Work (MHMS). Accessing MHMS Distributed Files We’d like to support large-scale deployments by allowing customers to deploy encrypted license files to headsets via Horizon managed services (there us an option there to deploy files to devices). File distribution itself works fine, but we haven’t found a way to read these files from within the app at runtime, i.e. to have the proper permissions to read those files. Do you have any guidance on how to access these files from the app? Storing License Info Locally We also want to store license data locally on the device after activation (while online, in the case were they do not want to distribute license files), so the app can validate the license even when the device is offline. This is essentially the same encrypted data as the distributed file, just generated online and then downloaded to the device. Is there a supported way to persist such data locally on MHMS-managed devices? We’re aware that local storage is very restricted across sessions, so we’d love to know if there is a way (now or with a future update). A work-around is keeping users in the same session, but that's not really ideal as users always will have the option to end a session. For now we will be requiring MHMS devices to be online, but that's not a solution viable on the long term where you will also see devices being used offline. MHMS itself now supports offline use. If there is a solution (so my first question and maybe to my second) this could also be used for trained led courses where the trainer sets the training options for a training session or even for the organization as a whole (think language and other regional options). Hopefully someone can provide some insights.Leon-VR-Lab4 months agoProtege198Views0likes8CommentsOrganization Groupings are going away as July 25th. What does it mean?
Hi. As Meta announced, Organization Groupings will be discontinued as of July 25th. What does it mean? We need to have a general matrix from which different organizations that will publish different games can branch off. How can we do this from now on? Thank you very much.knob20014 months agoExplorer18Views0likes0CommentsWhich AR glasses to buy for research with LLMs and Raw data
Hello there, I'm writing you because, together with a group of PhD and Master's students at my university, we are exploring the development of new mobile or web-based applications that can interface with the Meta Ray-Ban or Aria smart glasses via SDK. Our goal is to test our own vision-language models (VLLMs) accessing directly the raw data streams—specifically video and audio—from the glasses and providing contextualized responses through the device’s built-in speakers using our own LLMs. We are particularly interested in whether it is possible to develop a mobile app or even getting access through a web browser that can: Collect and transmit raw sensor data (video/audio) Send processed responses back to the glasses Use Bluetooth or an Android mobile app (possibly via XRCore or Unity) as the communication bridge If this is feasible, could you kindly advise: Which smart glasses model(s) you recommend for this type of development. We want to buy some few glasses to start with What plugins, SDKs, or frameworks would be most suitable We appreciate your guidance and thank you in advance for your support. Hi guys, i like to align the rotation of the guardian grid ( before defining the boundarys) to the real world. We are using the Meta Quest 3 together with Autodesk VRED 2026 with Camera Passthrough. The center of the guardian is set when i start the boundaries calibration, right ? How is it possible to influence the rotation of this initial boundary recognizition? When is the rotation value defined ? I like to precisely rotate the guardian grid to reduce the need of rotating my virtual content to align with the real world. I like to align the grid with the wall of my room. Hello, I'm looking to create a multi-user, large-scale, location-based (offline) game and have a few questions: 1. Is there a way to disable system-level gestures to prevent players from accidentally exiting the application and returning to the home screen during gameplay? 2. Is there a method for scanning a large physical space (approximately 10x10 meters) to generate a persistent and shareable map file? 3. Is it possible to enable or provide some control API? We need an interface that allows a central controller to remotely start and stop the application on all devices, as well as manage the installation and updating of game content.hanb3024 months agoHonored Guest44Views0likes1Comment
