Still no native hand tracking for PCVR
I hate to make a new discussion over this topic but at this point meta should be thinking about a port of this in some way. I know developers can send the data over but actually using it for any gameplay outside of a unity development environment is impossible. I've heard rumors of 3rd party apps that can do something similar to meta link via the cable and such but that doesn't sound safe. I enjoy my PCVR experience and all, but losing a large functionality of the headset all because I want to use my link cable so my graphics don't look terrible. (my headset isn't close to the router, so it doesn't have a good connection, and using my computer as a hotspot doesn't boost the quality of the picture. Something like Steam Link or Virtual Desktop[why is this expensive?] is out of the question.) I understand that meta may not think of their headset as being used as a pc extension but so many people do it already, why not add a bit of functionality to the app you seem to neglect? (the wrist watch is STILL broken). You already have the ability for the data to be sent over so why is Unity the only thing that's allowed to read it? OpenXR can read that data just fine, steam link can understand my hand movements... but on pc steam just... doesn't get a lick of anything? even with developer mode? There's handfuls upon handfuls of VR games that support hand tracking nowadays, VRChat especially can handle it so I know it's something I can do... So why is the link cable not allowed to use it?ToTheGrave11 hours agoProtege0likes1CommentThe new quest ui is terrible
so the new ui just came out for meta quest and its the most annoying overly complicated ui i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with anyone know any way to reverse it or suggest they change it back or at least give us the option to choose berween the old and new one its extremly annoying i know along of people feel the same way i have to slide thru like 9 tabs to locate an app i used to be able to see on one easy to slide screen and trying to open the call im on is like a 25 step process vs just clicking on one button on my quick menu please reverse this or give us the option to choose between the 2 or customize itThatdude4220 hours agoHonored Guest8likes8CommentsMeta Broke my headset
Meta brokemy Oculus Quest 3 over 15 months ago with an update and I still have yet to receive a replacement (RMA) or refund. All I've done is give me the same runaround with their support team. They don't care to take responsibility for their mistakes.ElJefe12721 day agoHonored Guest0likes2Commentsnever spending a dime on these products anymore
had quest since q1, charging port burned out, bought another Q1, it bricked, bought quest 2, it bricked, didnt care since it bricked around quest 3 release, bought a q3 and q3s those were stolen so nobodies fault there, bought a q3s immediately same day i got robbed, that just bricked today after 1 year and 2 months, customer service wants me to buy a refurbished one for 209.99 LOST A LONG TIME CUSTOMER. FIX THE BIGGEST ISSUE YOU HAVE.....BRICKING HEADSETS AFTER A MAX 2 years, thousands of dollars wasted in headsets, third party headstraps and batteries, controller straps and almost every game WASTE OF MONEY, cant find a place to leave a review but i got nothing but bad to say, dont get me wrong VR is amazing, but the fact they brick within 2 years even after taking care of them and keeping them clean and never banging them, nothing but issues, biggest issue is the gamble of spending 300-500 dollars on one just for it to fail after warranty expiresthejuggster5 days agoExplorer1like1CommentArizona Sunshine 2

Ever wonder what The Goes Wrong Show would be like if they used VR? CAST CHRIS – The overly confident director who insists the tech is "rock‑solid." ANNIE – Actor #1, easily motion‑sick, easily panicked. ROBERT – Actor #2, takes everything far too seriously. DENNIS – Actor #3, wearing a Quest headset that never behaves. STAGE MANAGER (offstage) – Trying desperately to fix things. SCENE 1: THE DEMONSTRATION CHRIS: Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to witness the future of immersive entertainment. Our Meta Quest headsets will transport our actors into a breathtaking virtual world. ANNIE (whispering): Mine says "Tracking Lost." Is that part of the story? CHRIS: No, Annie, that's just you. Stand still. ANNIE: I am standing still. Her headset slowly drifts upward on its own, like it's trying to escape her face. SCENE 2: ENTER DENNIS DENNIS enters wearing a Quest that is vibrating like a washing machine on spin cycle. DENNIS: It keeps telling me my guardian boundary is "in the ceiling." Should I be concerned? CHRIS: Ignore it. DENNIS: It also says I'm "outside my play area." I'm on the stage. CHRIS: Yes, Dennis, we all are. DENNIS: Then why does it think I'm in a car park? SCENE 3: THE VIRTUAL WORLD ROBERT (putting on his headset): Ah! I see a majestic forest! ANNIE: Mine's showing… a loading spinner. It's been spinning for three minutes. CHRIS: It'll load. ANNIE: It says "App not responding." Should I respond? CHRIS: No. DENNIS (shouting): My hands are gone! CHRIS: They're virtual hands, Dennis. DENNIS: No, I mean the controllers aren't tracking. I'm just… stumps. I'm a stump man. He waves his arms; the headset shows nothing. The audience sees him flailing like a confused inflatable tube man. SCENE 4: THE GLITCH CASCADE ROBERT: I'm trying to pick up a sword, but my hand keeps going through the floor. ANNIE: My floor is the ceiling. DENNIS: My ceiling is a car park. CHRIS: Everyone stay calm. STAGE MANAGER (offstage): Chris, the Wi‑Fi dropped again. All headsets freeze simultaneously. The actors freeze too, assuming it's part of the performance. CHRIS: No, no, don't freeze! That's the headsets, not you! ANNIE: Mine's rebooting. It says "Updating… 47 minutes remaining." CHRIS: Why is it updating NOW? DENNIS: Mine says "Update failed." Then it says "Update successful." Then it says "Update failed" again. It's arguing with itself. SCENE 5: THE GRAND FINALE The headsets suddenly all resume - but with wildly mismatched environments. ROBERT: I'm in a medieval castle! ANNIE: I'm in a supermarket! DENNIS: I'm in… someone else's living room. Should I be seeing this? CHRIS: Just improvise! ROBERT (to ANNIE): Fair maiden, I must rescue you! ANNIE: I'm in aisle four looking for cereal! DENNIS: There's a dog staring at me. I think it knows I shouldn't be here. All three actors collide because their guardian boundaries are drifting around like drunk jellyfish. They fall into a heap. CHRIS (to audience, defeated): And that concludes our demonstration of cutting‑edge VR technology. Please… imagine it working. Curtain falls. One headset continues loudly rebooting.steve_409 days agoHonored Visionary2likes2CommentsQuest Upgrade
Hi everyone! I am a 3 year old quest user, and have finally gotten the money to upgrade from my old quest 2. Though, I am stuck. I don't know what headset to go to, the quest 3 or 3S. I am also wondering, is it even worth upgrading? My quest works more than okay right now, but I would like the extra power, and new apps. Please give me your input, thanks!NotAnBeaver9 days agoHonored Guest0likes2CommentsA One‑Page Summary of the Entire Meta Quest Forums
The Meta Quest forums are essentially a bustling virtual village where every resident is wearing a headset, half the houses are on fire, and at least three people are shouting "MY CONTROLLER WON'T TURN ON" at any given moment. At the town gates, the Announcements board proudly displays official updates from Meta -carefully crafted posts that immediately gather 239 comments, half of which are people saying: "This broke my headset" and the other half asking when the next update is coming because this one broke their headset. Wander a little further and you'll find Pairing & Connection - a district built entirely out of error messages. Here, villagers gather to compare their favorite cryptic warnings like "Water and Debris Detected" (even though the headset hasn't been near water, debris, or sometimes even oxygen). One resident insists their right controller simply "gave up on life," while another is convinced Windows 11 is personally out to sabotage hand tracking. Across the street is Other Troubleshooting, a place where download speeds drop to 50kb/s for no reason, batteries labeled "NANFU" spark philosophical debates, and every solution begins with "Have you tried restarting it?" - followed by someone replying, "Yes. Seventeen times." Then there's Games & Apps, where someone always wants a refund for a game they bought 19 days ago and played for 40 hours "by accident." The community responds with a mix of sympathy, confusion, and the occasional "Good luck, traveler." Off‑Topic is the town tavern. Anything goes here. Memes, rumors about the Quest 4, existential debates about display panels, and at least one user named something like SLEEP_LOVER_6969 asking where the friends list is. Finally, towering above it all are the Top Contributors - the wise elders of the village. They roam the land with thousands of kudos, answering the same five questions every day with saint‑like patience while quietly wondering why they do this to themselves. In short: The Meta Quest forums are a chaotic, charming, endlessly looping tech‑support sitcom where everyone is both the protagonist and the problem. And honestly? It's kind of beautiful.
