Why did the metaverse fail?
What went wrong? It's an interesting concept, however, how did Meta end up spending 70B in this project? Using the metahuman, I myself built a whole pipeline that skins and copies blendshapes without much effort. Meaning that clothing and accessory creation became very trivial. There is a character creator and everything. Like, how? What in the Metaverse cost all that? Servers? Partnerships? AI costs? Honestly I believe since the avatar system exists, Meta should focus on cross-platform implementation and integration. Similar to metahumans but you actually give the developers the whole Avatar system for licensing. Games could be built around the system and people could pay a percentage of the profits to meta while also letting people keep a consistent avatar across several games that are built with it because Meta provides it. Meta would have to barely do anything to make this feature grow if they made the system available to developers. And... Maybe, with massive adoption in games the rest of the metaverse could work. Since people are invested in the avatar system that they use accros several games they are more likely to experiment other things. Anyway, I think this empowers developers and gives Meta pretty much free money from fees. They just have to house the database with the player avatars and provide the already built assets. Easy money, self growing ecosystem... It's like magic.samachi.20261 day agoHonored Guest0likes1Commentwe should bring back oculus homes
we should bring back oculus homes (you heard me) unfortunately meta killed homes in 2023 because ol' zuckyburg does not care about rift and it's users anymore (source ) as everyone has already stated, we miss rift homes (justice to people who didnt use it but i digress) and we wish we can revisit our homes, but what if........ (i'm no savvy to this) someone found an old file of rift homes that contained the application to it figure out the DNS (if so) make a community server and reroute it back to the one made by the community server instead of meta's. ofc i know this might cost money to do something like that but we just wanna revisit our homes and talk to our friends again, and customise rift avatars, and that's something that would be done in the foreseeable future if someone purposefully brung back rift home. but i don't think that'll happen as it would take months and even years to do something like that, but i hope someone does it and figure out a way to bring back oculus homes. "why not use SteamVR home?" given with how old it is it's broken to the bare minimum, rooms no longer and you can't join any of your friends's rooms (as someone who tried rooms in september 2024) "it's never going to happen" have faith, that's why i said "in the future"Questlandia
Ode to the Questlandia Chronicles In the bustling bazaar of the Meta Quest boards, Where confusion and chaos earn equal awards, Lives a cast of bold users with tales so surreal, You'd swear half their posts were a Netflix reveal. There's the hero who washed their poor headset on high - Tumbled, rinsed, and spin‑cycled like laundry gone awry. "It's broken!" they wailed, with indignant despair, As if Meta had snuck in and shoved it in there. Another brave soul, with a tale just as grim, Dropped a controller in the toilet on a whim. "It's Meta's fault too!" they proclaimed with a roar, Though gravity's been doing this job long before. Then come the reports of mysterious crackles - Phantom speaker noises, imagined sound battles. "Do you hear that?" they ask. "It's a sinister glitch!" While the silence around them refuses to twitch. And of course, the grand theory that never grows old: A firmware conspiracy, cunning and bold. "Meta sabotaged my headset!" they cry in distress, As if engineers lurk in the shadows to mess. Yet for every wild claim and dramatic lament, There's a helper who answers with calm, patient intent: "Try rebooting your headset," they gently suggest, "Or maybe… don't wash it with towels next test." So here's to the forums - absurd, loud, and bright - Where chaos is constant and drama ignites. May the legends keep growing, both baffling and fun, For Questlandia's saga has only begun.steve_402 days agoVisionary1like3CommentsMeta AI & Accessibility Features Still Missing in the UK on Quest – Anyone Else?
Hi everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone else in the UK is experiencing delays with Meta AI and accessibility features on Quest devices. These features seem to have been rolling out for quite a while, but they still don’t appear to be fully available in the UK. For example: - Meta AI is still not available - Accessibility features like dictation (UK version) are missing - Accessibility tools do not seem widely available I’m also experiencing some issues on Quest OS v72 (2.1 interface): - I previously had Navigator (v87) - After an update Navigator disappeared - I still do not have access to the new interface So currently I seem to have: - No Meta AI - Missing accessibility features - Navigator removed - No access to the new interface Is this still region locked for the UK or part of a slow rollout? Has anyone else in the UK experienced Navigator disappearing after updates? It would be great to hear from other UK Quest users to see if this is a wider issue.BruceArthurWayne3 days agoMHCP Member0likes2CommentsMy Quest Pro Nightmare: Meta Support Canceled My RMA After Two Months of Silence
Right before Christmas, I treated myself to a new Quest Pro. When the headset arrived, I was over the moon. I’ve been with Meta since the Oculus days—starting back with the Rift S—so I’d been waiting a long time for this upgrade. But my happiness was short-lived. On the very first night, I discovered that the Menu button on the left controller wasn't working. I looked up some troubleshooting guides which suggested unpairing and re-pairing the controller. That was the final nail in the coffin; the controller died completely and refused to pair back up. The next day, I contacted Meta Support. They replied quickly and authorized an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for a replacement. On December 29, 2025, the return was officially approved, and the process began. Then... silence. Nothing for half a month. I started messaging them almost daily just to find out what was going on. Eventually, the Meta Support bots started sending me the exact same canned responses: how sorry they are, how they don't have any specifics, but how helping me is their "life's mission," and so on. At one point, a human named Brad replied. (Hi Brad, love you.) The wording of his email was different, which gave me a glimmer of hope that my problem might actually be solved. Well, hope is still barely alive, but the situation has become even more inexplicable. Today, February 27, 2026, I received an email from Meta stating that my return has been canceled for the reason: "Other." I contacted support immediately, and once again, I was showered with empty promises. They told me they would get back to me as soon as they "clarified the information regarding the cancellation." This is pure madness. If anyone has had a similar experience, please share how you resolved it. I am as desperate as a person can possibly be at this point...😫dairinka4 days agoExplorer0likes11CommentsFeature Request: Voice Chat Restriction
I'm not sure the best way to share this - but as a parent of a child who just got a Quest as a gift, I'm pretty happy with most of the parental controls available. One glaring issue - there doesn't appear to be a GLOBAL option to restrict voice-interactions to friends only. I do not want my child interacting with anyone on the internet via voice, but I also don't want to restrict him from cool games he wants to play that don't support a "friends only" voice channel. This is a common feature in online gaming and should be universally available as a privacy/voice chat setting. Please help me get this request in front of developers if there is a better place to share this request, thank you!eric.valero4 days agoHonored Guest1like1CommentUnlocking the Metaverse for Millions: The Urgent Need for Turkish Language Support
To the Meta Development Team and the Global VR Community, Virtual reality is built on a single, powerful promise: true immersion without boundaries. Yet, for millions of Turkish-speaking users worldwide, a significant barrier remains: the absolute lack of native Turkish language support in Horizon OS and the Meta Store. Turkey currently boasts one of the most vibrant, passionate, and rapidly expanding gaming communities in Europe and the Middle East. The Meta Quest ecosystem is already highly sought-after here. However, the absence of Turkish localization is holding back its true mainstream potential. We are not just asking for a simple menu translation; we are asking for accessibility, inclusion, and the ability to safely and fully experience the Metaverse. Imagine trying to navigate complex system settings, read crucial safety boundary warnings, or comfortably browse the Meta Store in a foreign language. It instantly breaks the seamless immersion that Meta works so hard to build. By introducing Turkish language support, Meta wouldn't just be adding another language option to a dropdown menu. You would be significantly lowering the entry barrier for a massive, untapped demographic that is eager to invest time and money into the Quest ecosystem. It means better onboarding, higher user retention, and a surge in community growth. The Turkish VR community is already here. We are active, we are growing, and we want to feel at "home" in Horizon OS. It is time to bridge this gap. We strongly urge the Meta leadership and development teams to prioritize Turkish localization in your upcoming roadmap. To my fellow VR enthusiasts: If you believe the Metaverse should truly be for everyone, please hit the Kudo button and drop a comment below to amplify this request. Let’s show Meta the undeniable power of this community!Taha95 days agoHonored Guest0likes0Comments
