My Quest Pro Nightmare: Meta Support Canceled My RMA After Two Months of Silence
Right before Christmas, I treated myself to a new Quest Pro. When the headset arrived, I was over the moon. I’ve been with Meta since the Oculus days—starting back with the Rift S—so I’d been waiting a long time for this upgrade. But my happiness was short-lived. On the very first night, I discovered that the Menu button on the left controller wasn't working. I looked up some troubleshooting guides which suggested unpairing and re-pairing the controller. That was the final nail in the coffin; the controller died completely and refused to pair back up. The next day, I contacted Meta Support. They replied quickly and authorized an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for a replacement. On December 29, 2025, the return was officially approved, and the process began. Then... silence. Nothing for half a month. I started messaging them almost daily just to find out what was going on. Eventually, the Meta Support bots started sending me the exact same canned responses: how sorry they are, how they don't have any specifics, but how helping me is their "life's mission," and so on. At one point, a human named Brad replied. (Hi Brad, love you.) The wording of his email was different, which gave me a glimmer of hope that my problem might actually be solved. Well, hope is still barely alive, but the situation has become even more inexplicable. Today, February 27, 2026, I received an email from Meta stating that my return has been canceled for the reason: "Other." I contacted support immediately, and once again, I was showered with empty promises. They told me they would get back to me as soon as they "clarified the information regarding the cancellation." This is pure madness. If anyone has had a similar experience, please share how you resolved it. UK account, No AI features, I guess because of government? Where's the Augments? Where's the Codec Avatars? For 3 years this headset's been out, and there's been NO "killer app"... It seems like such a shame, such a waste of an underutilised piece of hardware. The Hyperscape has potential, like if we can all hang out in large photorealistic spaces... but even that is very limited in functionality. Why can't the headset track my bottle of beer and keep it in passthrough whilst I am immersed? Like the title says, I am rather late to this V.81 update (I only got it today, and immediately learned that it's already 4 months old). Honestly, I have nothing good to say about the update. I guess all that I'm going to say about has already been addressed here, but just still need to vent this out. The worst thing about the whole update is the decreased battery life. I've never had my Quest 2 (which I've only had for 2y 1m) battery drain this fast. Only reading through the patch notes to V.81 drained battery by 16%, just because there's this new "immersive home" running on the background all the time. After 15 minutes in FitXR, my battery was already down to 63%. After 15 minutes!! Before this update, I was able to do a whole 40 minute workout on FitXR and have still over 50% of battery left. The battery drain is truly insane after this update. Also never has the home screen and menus been as laggy as they were after the update. Things are loading so slowly, some menu buttons requires to be pressed twice before they are registered.. It's just horrible. The second worst thing is the already mentioned immersive home. I don't understand why Meta doesn't give customers the ability to choose with these "Horizon Worlds/Central" things. Why force them on people who don't want anything to do with them?? Is their Metaverse plans doing so bad that their only option is to force people into these things? I personally don't want anything to do with them, and I know I am not the only one with this opinion. So not only is this absolutely useless garbage being forced onto people, they also do it in a way that makes their VR sets work worse. Hindsight is always 20/20 as they say, and if this is the way these things truly are going, boy am I glad that I cancelled making my Quest 3 purchase and removed it from shopping cart while doing other shopping. At this rate, I'll rather get Pico 4. I don't use standalone features that much (mainly use for wireless PCVR), and thankfully I haven't spent that much money in meta store for apps. I PURCHASED A NEW QUEST 3 512 HEADSET (MY THIRD HEADSET...SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER APPRECIATION). THE HEADSET DID NOT WORK THE SCREEN WOULD BREAK UP. I SHIPPED THE HEADSET BACK TO META PER WARRANTY AND AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS AND NUMEROUS EMAILS META REPLACED MY BRAND-NEW UNIT WITH A USED UNIT. SO BASICALLY, I PAID FULL RETAIL FOR A USED UNIT. THE USED UNIT LASTED ABOUT A MONTH AND NOW BOOTS TO A BLACK SCREEN AND THEN POWERS OFF. SO, IT APPEARS I NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY FOR THE USED UNIT...META TOOK MY $500+ DOLLARS AND IN RETURN I GOT TO BASICALLY 'RENT' A QUEST FOR 3 MONTHS...THEY MAKE IT NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AN ANSWER FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE...DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE HERE??? i normally use my quest 3s in a pitch black room to help with light leak, but for whatever reason, for a few days now, i have noticed that it doesn't work at all, due to the IR lights on the front of the headset not lighting up. i dont see the purple glow in the reflection when i hold my phone up to the headset. this happened a few days after i got the new v81 update, and the 'show keyboard' option in the devices tab is off.SolvedNaso42655 months agoHonored Guest0likes5CommentsYour computer does not meet the updated minimum requirements
I have a 1T m.2 ssd Asus GeForce RTX 4070 DUAL EVO - OC Edition, 16GB DDR4 Ram AMD Ryzen 9 5900x processor. I'm experiencing a persistent issue trying to access my Meta account—the one I use with my headset. Every time I attempt to log in, I'm prompted for a 2-factor authentication (2FA) code (OTP), but I never receive the code on my phone, I don't have the recovery codes as well. I've exhausted all troubleshooting: attempting login from different devices, browsers, and networks. To rule out problems with my number, I tested receiving OTPs from other, non-Meta services, and those arrive instantly—so the issue is clearly on Meta's side. I even tried accessing my account via the account center with Facebook and Instagram, but still hit the same 2FA roadblock. What makes this even more frustrating is the lack of support: live chat appears to be gone, and posting here requires being logged in. How are users locked out supposed to get help? I had to make a brand new Meta account just to raise this issue. There needs to be an open channel for locked-out users who can’t get through 2FA.
