V81.1034 latest release now detecting usb 3 as usb2
So, having updated to 5131230.22000.520 on 29th Oct, I noticed performance was slow - noticable lag connecting over the link cable. Previous build was fine. I then ran a usb test and it appears its now detecting my USB 3 connection as USB 2 and in the link software I know have an exclamation mark telling me to try USB 3. Its telling me my link speed is 340meg. So i wonder if some regression has crept in the release and now we are missing USB 3 support. Note my pc is AMD chipset based. Nothing else has changed on PC. Meta really do need to do a far better job of testing against pc's !!! its not the first time we've had major issues.Sentryuk5 days agoAdventurer2likes36CommentsNEW INSTALLING PATH CREATING PROBLEMS...
Following my first post Meta Quest v83 USB Link problem | Meta Community Forums - 1354313 I found that META it's trying to create a new installation path: "program_files/meta_horizon" for the Meta Horizon Link App (AKA Oculus Desktop App)... All installations prior to v83, were on: "program_files/oculus" SO, now we have a BIG MESS ... Because there are TWO paths for installation... And the "things" that are installed in oculus path, are NEEDED for the new installation also, the new installation it's not installing EVERYTHING that it's needed in meta_horizon path ... If you install Meta Horizon Link App from scratch , the registry on Windows still have the oculus install, so the new app it gets installed in the new path meta_horizon, but do not install some "things" needed because "think" that are already installed. So, I was in state where you are in the PC link Dashboard, with the white grid and, and you enter to any PC VR app or game, and it can't run them, because there is no headset connected for Windows, even SteamVR says "There is no headset connected" My solution to that, was uninstalling EVERYTHING Meta... then I found on Internet a DOWNLODABLE version of OCULUS DESKTOP APP ... like 1.04 something ... with the OCULUS LOGO when you are installing it... After the install process finished, got an ERROR ... but I didn't care, because the idea was to create again all registry data for windows about the app and the original "program_files/oculus" path Then I've run the "Setup.exe" to install the latest Meta Horizon Link App ... And it open saying all the options ... Run the app? ... Uninstall? ... or REPAIR? ... ok REPAIR .. that process downloaded the newest version and on the INSTALLING PROCESS you can read ... installing ON: "program_files/oculus" ... and not "program_file/meta_horizon" path. THANKS GOD! ... so EVERYTHING got installed on "program_files/oculus" as it should be, there is NO META_HORIZON path on program_files ... anymore NOW, the app it's WORKING and everything it's working as always was BEFORE this "lovely" .. v83 desktop app update. There is NO WAY TO DOWNLOAD the version that we want for this app, there is no way to TURN OFF the UPDATES for this app, it's just CLOSED... INSANE! TO META: PLEASE FIX THIS INSTALLATION PATHS PROBLEMS, I know you want to get rid of ALL the OCULUS name everywhere, but PLEASE DO IT RIGHT. Oh and BY the way!... I've tried to activate the "Public Beta Channel" for this desktop app ... and OF COURSE it's not working, because the update to that beta version it's trying to do it on? .. where? ... any guess? ... maybe it's because it's trying to get installed on "program_files/meta_horizon" ? ... BINGO!! hahahah! So, I can't test the latest beta, to check if the BUG about bitrate limit was FIXED that thing that I've been talking in here: Meta Quest v83 USB Link problem | Meta Community Forums - 1354313 I hope all this problems get fixed soon, for now I can't get any beta testing and I can't push the bitrate higher than 600mbits (USB Link) with DebugTool on v83 of desktop app, no matter what version it's installed on the headset (v81 or v83) it's the same problem. v81 on desktop, was working perfectly , you can put up to 960mbits (USB Link) without any problem . That's all for now CYA!SolvedAEFox202013 days agoProtege5likes13CommentsLink extremely slow download speeds
I'm having problems downloading games on the PC with Meta Quest Link software. Right now I'm in Costa Rica with my laptop, I have a 200Mbps connection here. Ookla Speed Test reports 190 Mbps on downloads and uploads. However The quest link software downloads at around 3 Mbps. Using TCPView to check where the software is downloading from, it points to this IP: 157.240.244.53 which according to iplocation.net is Facebook servers in Mexico. I downloaded a game on Steam earlier and I was getting around 175 Mbps. Thing I've tried: Set software bandwidth to unlimited Set software bandwidth to 1000Mbps Toggle Download while in VR on and off Shut down the headset (Quest 2) Windows Power mode set to Best Performance Windows Power Mode set to Balanced Please note that I'm trying to download games to the PC, not the headset. (I haven't tried downloading game to the headset yet)KNP5420 days agoHeroic Explorer1like3CommentsMeta Link installation is failing
Hello, I am trying to install Meta Link. Unfortunately it fails just before the installation is complete and I get a prompt to restart my computer and try again. I have reinstalled the PC in order to solve it and try from a clean sheet, but to no success. Any input on how to solve this is very welcome. Thanks in advance!Helihover20 days agoHonored Guest0likes2CommentsHand tracking Horizon Link - Unreal development broken.
Currently developing a VR game with hand tracking. Development stopped because hand tracking cannot be enabled anymore to pass through since the beta tab has disappeared. How the hell can we progress in development when this feature suddenly dissapears?RaginVR27 days agoHonored Guest0likes2CommentsMeta Link Stuttering & Yellow Border on Showing Desktop (Windows 10)
Initially it was in beta testing, but today they rolled out an update to the main, and now my stutters seem like I have the half of framerate of 120 hz with spikes, and when I turn on the screen display a yellow frame appears on my moninor like it was in OBS without DXGI method screen capture. I believe this is the main reason why the stutterers appeared. Meta updated the screen capture method and possibly the capture sending to the Quest headset, and now the frame rate is unstable at all. I tried to find a way to disable the new capture method but I couldn't find anything like that in the registry. If you have the same stuff for now please share this My Specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X RAM: 64GB GPU: RTX 3060 SSD and so onVanderAGSN1 month agoProtege0likes21CommentsLink not connecting, hanging on loading screen
As the title, i can connect to my pc via the MS app, and remote desktop, but not via the PC Link. Have tried and exhaused all troubleshooting I can find to no avail, unable to use any PCVR for last two days.SolvedEimajm1 month agoExplorer0likes7CommentsLaggy V81 & PTC, V83 Via Link
Hi Since installing V81 my Q3 has lag in the form of the screen looking like it has a low refresh rate when turning your head, noticeable especially on bright text and objects, in racing sims it becomes nauseating. The issue only happens via the link cable with meta software and at 72, 80 and 90hz. At 120hz the issue is resolved but the image appears softer with less clarity than any of the other refresh rate options, different resolutions don’t make a difference and using 120hz can tax the PC too much. Virtual desktop and steam via WiFi work fine but I haven’t tested it with meta WiFi connection. I have just joined the PTC and installed V83 and the issue persists. Any one have this issue, any one understand how to resolve it ? btw it’s not the cable as I have 2 too play with, desktop and headset both have matching PTC softwareSolvedIan711 month agoExplorer1like10Commentstoday marks 243 days (8 months)
That's how long PCVR has been unusable, for 8 months, or since the release of v76 of the link app, a large selling point of owning a meta headset has been rendered pointless, we're 5 (7 if you count PTC) major updates in, throughout the better half of a year and still we cant use their app dedicated to PCVR for PCVR The most recent update we've gotten from meta read basically as "don't worry, we have a link app update for all of you, yes that's right, we've renamed it, that's all, no we haven't fixed it" And the cherry on top? the app consistently soft locks PC's (you cant press anything with your IRL mouse or even a digital VR screen one) until you fully reboot This has to be a joke at this point, there is no at-home fixes we can do meta, trust us, we've tried them all, and a majority of us want to use wireless FIX THE LINK APPKidDexo1 month agoExplorer1like7CommentsQuest Pro Face Tracking over link cable not working
My Meta Link software was just force updated to the latest version. Strangely enough, it updated 3 times in a row back to back and it seemed like a major revision because it made me restart the program. I have tried all combinations of flashing headset firmware, making sure the headset face tracking works (it does), reinstalling Meta Link software. Also eye tracking works fine over link, it's just face tracking and blinking etc that don't work. I even tired the public test channel and it immediately corrupted my installation and I had to remove and reinstall it. Only other thing I changed from when it was working fine yesterday was I just installed the new Nvidia Studio driver?Mr._Cool1 month agoHonored Guest0likes1Comment
