Resource Spotlight: Meta XR Runtime Optimizer
Hi everyone, I’m Quentin, XR Developer, creator of Valem Tutorials, and Meta Start Mentor 👋
Optimizing and profiling a VR game can be tough. Tools like RenderDoc have been incredibly powerful, but also intimidating to set up and use.
That’s why I’m really happy to share that a new tool makes this process more approachable and directly integrated into Unity: the Meta XR Runtime Optimizer.
As the name suggests, this tool lets you capture frames at runtime and get valuable insights into your project, from game objects to textures and materials. The best part is that it’s not limited to the Meta SDK. You can use it across all kinds of XR projects.
To help you get started, I made a tutorial that walks you through the setup process and shows practical use cases of the Runtime Optimizer in action.
Watch it here:
You can also find more tutorials like this on my channel, Valem Tutorials, where I share tips and guides on XR development.

I hope this helps you get started with the tool, and if you have tried it yet I’d love to hear your thoughts. 😊
