An Open Letter to Meta: Keep Horizon Worlds Accessible

Horizon Worlds has always been special because anyone could put on a headset and start creating—no coding degree required. Codeblocks made that possible, giving creators of all skill levels the power to build without overwhelming barriers. Now, with the shift to an industry-standard desktop editor and a programming language that takes months or years to learn, Meta is moving away from what made Horizon truly unique. Advanced tools are great, but not if they push out the very people who made this platform thrive. Please don’t turn Horizon Worlds into just another complex game engine and if you do please remember the little guys.—keep it accessible, intuitive, and open to all.

  • As I just mentioned in another similar thread, I agree that headset building was a major drive for early creators, but doesn't attract studios to the platform, but maybe they should remain focused on the Quest store app instead? Anyways, at least maintaining the headset building will continue to allow an influx of new creators and inspire a few of them to take up the advanced tools and eventually get into the industry. If Horizon was advanced tools only, then there is really no incentive for those new creators to pick this platform over another with the same complexity and larger user base.
