Can't Open My Work after Update 204.0.0.6.670

Hi All,

So I can't open any of my projects in the Desktop Editor, I can click to open, and it finds them, but does a soft crash on actual opening.  Updated my Nvidia Driver, then Reinstalled the Editor and nadda.   I've got a slightly old Acer Laptop with a GeForce RTX 3050 card. .... any advice?

Steve

  • Am I Crazy? It Works Now! (was it just the internet connection / security at Dunkin Donuts that threw me off? - will check) I get the issues with being an Alpha build, but the inconsistency in types of problems and when they happen is killing me (this is my second public post). At home I have "rural internet" quality, so I know that's an issue.  Anyhow, if you have random issues that come and automagically go away, not enough to be a burden - but enough to make you question things - please share 🙂

Did you happen to be connected using a VPN? Or was your internet connection configured to connect to a "private" network instead of a "public" network? Both of these can cause editor issues. Glad it is resolved for you now though.

I have seen some issues like this in the past even with fast home internet, sometimes just restarting the router helps.

This was just over the "normal" dunkin donuts WiFi, so I'm not sure. The default is public, I would think. I assume that other places - Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, McDonalds, some university campuses may (may) have the same issue. In the old days, this used to be common on public networks old Web3D platforms (VNet, Deep Matrix) etc. couldn't connect.  I'd been using FrameVR for the past 5 years, so forgot this might be an issue. Also, for clarity - it's only the Desk Editor that's an issue. Visiting Published worlds is fine.   Anyhow - thanks for replying, will keep Public / Private / VPN's in mind (given my history, I'll likely stumble into needing to remember this, lol)
