Headset editor done for?

After the update today I can't even edit a script on the head set editor. I know they stopped updating and maintaining it but didn't expect it to just fall apart. I literally cant even drag and drop code blocks or type on the keyboard now. I like using the desktop editor for some stuff but mostly prefer the headset if anyone knows anyway to get it working again?

If not how can I get the code block scripting on the desktop editor? I downloaded vs code and I'm still not able to open my existing scripts. I'm able to start a new one but it's type script not code blocks

  • Oh God. I haven’t been in yet but I hope it isn’t true that it’s broken beyond work…  I haven’t stuff to do and I don’t know typescript either…

Right I know type script to a degree I used it for a couple years with visual studios in unity. But already have code block scripts in progress I'd like to stick too. And the headset editor is somewhat better now but still rough.. still works fine in my primitive shapes worlds just not cmi

I'm not sure what that means lol but I'm sure I could if you elaborate. It is working somewhat now but still been missing scripts for a week.. have to click on objects and edit script to find them.. no attatched strings ect.

just want to reiterate here xTravyDx the issue your seeing in headset does not seem like expected behavior. Our engineering team is looking into it right now. Can you provide a world name that they can use to debug?

      Thanks!

        Sure thing. World name is

        "Buggy af now smh"

Many more problems not mentioned and very inconsistent. Sometime leaving and coming back helps. Atm I can't even get my scripts to pop up clicking edit anymore. I'm sure I'll be able to again in the next hour or so but for how long? Who knows

  • Sadly, you cannot open codeblocks in the desktop editor currently.

  • Someone give this man a raise. Consistent actual answers. Thanks again dude. Hopefully they integrate it at some point. I've spent the past month familiarizing myself with and it has a lot of potential. Especially if they start to incorporate get components, ect.. for variables used in other scripts like you can with type script.

  • I'm glad you've voiced your opinions and concerns about VR editing. It was an unexpected shift for me as well. The past two weeks have been both a blessing and a curse for me as I try to adjust to Desk Top editing and TypeScript.

As far as I know, TypeScript is the future direction of building within HW.

If anyone gets the chance to participate or review later, the Mentor lead learning sessions are a must for any level of Creator. What they have learned and demonstrate for us all is of immeasurable value to me.

  • The VR editor seems to still be working for me.  You might have a local problem of some sort?
Desktop editor does not currently support codeblock scripts. Maybe someday they will make a read-only mode, at least?  Hopefully read-write.

Yeah hopefully. Luckily my primitive shapes worlds still work. I've tried on multiple headsets in my cmi world and it's the same problem but luckily I've found some decent work arounds that work most of the time
