HELP! Black screen Desktop editor

Hi all! 
I know this is an ongoing issue with many, but I’m losing it, I’ve downloaded horizon desktop editor, to experience just a black screen followed by Not responding. I cannot get into HDE, my pc requirements are more than sufficient, I’ve tried reinstalling, clearing cache, opening through quest link app, and cannot get anywhere with it! 

any support or advice would be highly appreciated right now!

  • I've found that the standalone native desktop editor loads very slowly and the Quest Link version loads more quickly. I'm not sure why as it is supposed to be the same binary under the hood. If you are using the native editor, I suggest trying out loading it under Quest Link instead on your device.

      Thanks for the reply Kevin, I’ve Tried this and unfortunately have the exact same issue Of a black screen and crashing,

        Ah, my fault - I just saw that you already said that you tried the Quest Link version. In that case, I suggest that you try loading it and just leave it for an hour or so and do something else. It might be that the first time you load it on your particular device, it takes a long time and then is faster after that.

        The reason that I suggest that is that I have a superfast workstation and *occasionally* it takes about 15 minutes to load for me. So it might take even longer for others.

        Not sure why that is but it might have something to do with temporary network congestion rather than the app itself.

  • I had left it for about 6 hours yesterday and still nothing, so I genuinely have no idea of its cause, I’ve messaged meta, but it’s driving me crazy!

      Ah - then it does seem that you have tried everything that I can think of. I know that Meta is really keen to get more Worlds developers so hopefully they can help. I notice that the latest version of Horizon Worlds is installing very slowly (if at all) on VR so that might be a related issue.
