Looking for MHCP Creator Feedback 3/5/2025

MHCP Feedback 3/4/2025

Hi all! We want to hear from you on how we can continue to improve MHCP to better support your success. To be clear, this isn't about Horizon feature requests or platform feedback, but rather your experience within MHCP experience and how we can help your creator journey.

Here is what we are looking for from you all:

  1. What do you want to see from the Meta Horizon Creator Program? What would make your experience more valuable?
  2. Where do you feel there are education gaps? What skills, tools, or resources do you need to improve as a creator?
  3. What types of programming benefit you the most? Videos, works you can clone and dissect, workshops, mentorships, challenges / competitions, etc.
  4. How can we better support you in creating worlds and experiences? What's working well, and what could be improved?

Your feedback will help us shape the program moving forward and ensure we're providing the best possible support. We'll my synthesizing and sharing this feedback internally, so this is a great opportunity to have your voice heard.

Drop your thoughts below! Looking forward to hearing from you all!

    1. What do you want to see from the Meta Horizon Creator Program? What would make your experience more valuable?

I’d love to see the program hold onto its original spirit as a community-driven, hobbyist-friendly space while still welcoming new audiences. Lately, it feels like the focus has shifted heavily toward mobile players and contests, which makes sense for growth but leaves long-term creators feeling sidelined. To make my experience more valuable, I’d like to see a better balance—opportunities that support both beginners and experienced creators. For example, offering diverse projects or incentives that don’t solely cater to one group would keep the platform inclusive and rewarding. Reconnecting with the community roots that made this program special would mean the world to many of us.

    2. Where do you feel there are education gaps? What skills, tools, or resources do you need to improve as a creator?

One of the biggest challenges right now is the lack of education. We’re given access to incredible tools, but there’s little guidance on how to use them effectively—especially when it comes to scripting and advanced features. I’d benefit greatly from more detailed resources, like comprehensive tutorials, clear documentation, or even structured courses that start with the basics and progress to more complex topics. Right now, it’s a bit like being handed a toolbox without instructions, which can be overwhelming. Filling this gap would help creators like me turn ideas into reality with confidence and skill.

    3. What types of programming benefit you the most? Videos, works you can clone and dissect, workshops, mentorships, challenges / competitions, etc.

For me, a mix of learning options works best. Video tutorials are great for seeing concepts in action, and cloneable works I can dissect let me experiment hands-on, which speeds up my learning. I’d also love workshops or mentorships for deeper, tailored guidance—those could be game-changers for tackling trickier skills. While challenges and competitions can be fun and inspiring, they’d feel more beneficial if they focused on learning and growth rather than just prizes, which sometimes feel out of reach or misaligned with our goals. A variety of these resources would suit different learning styles and keep us engaged.

    4. How can we better support you in creating worlds and experiences? What's working well, and what could be improved?

To better support us, I’d suggest two key improvements. First, Stability With UPDATES is a huge concern—every week, it seems like an update breaks something that was working perfectly, while fixing something else. It’s discouraging and makes creating feel like a gamble. More thorough testing before releases would help us trust the platform again. Second, bringing back the social vibe would make a big difference. The shift toward a mobile-focused, less community-oriented experience feels anti-social compared to what drew many of us here. Adding features or events that spark collaboration and interaction could rekindle that magic.

On the bright side, the tools themselves are amazing when they work—they’re powerful and open up endless creative possibilities. That potential is what keeps me here. But to keep it fun and motivating, we need reliability and a stronger community focus based around transparency and ultimately keeping us informed without having to jump thru so many hoops to get simplicity of communication across to the needs of each individual. Everyone I talk to that's involved in this just loses track of their creative mindset in the moment going in strong and then never finishing the world because of new random changes leaving them feel discouraged.

Can we please have discord back? I think it was way easier and efficient to communicate on there

I have to agree. Responses here are so limited and it seems like there are very few of us actually paying any attention to posts here.

    I'm Spartacus!!!  🙂

What I mean to say here is that my personal MHCP experience is (to date) amazing. Perhaps it's the newness of it all. Perhaps it's the thought of producing a fine piece of work that others will inherently appreciate. Hard to tell what exactly gets me into my 'Creator' mode.

What I do freely profess to others, even in public, is that I have the worlds greatest sandbox at my disposal. Being a part of the MHCP, for me means that I can not only learn and grow my skills but do it with people like me. There is a community of builders and I hope to one day enhance it.

    Criticism:

I've read a great deal of the online documentation. It is obvious that there have been many contributors. While I sometimes enjoy the journey of research, it can be detrimentally frustrating when references don't quite align with posted examples (for example). I do understand a great deal is always happening behind the curtains and such so I mean no ill will. I simply appreciate being able to access this treasure trove of 'Magical Goodness'. From fellow creators to the mentors to every zoom meeting.
