Where do I even beginā¦
Hey, my name is Chrisāmore commonly known as 13_Chris. To be honest, I had never really thought about creating content in VR. I just needed a way to escape reality without actually leaving my house. I was in a pretty dark place and convinced myself that getting a headset might help. Turns out, it did exactly that.
When I first logged in, I played a game that doesnāt even exist anymore. (Iāve since built my own version of it in Horizon Worldsācalled Blitzājust saying.) But at the time, it gave me a space to decompress, play, and detach enough from reality to feel like myself again. Then, I found Horizon Worlds. It was right around the time Beta had just wrapped.
Within my first week, I was setting up battle sessions in Arena Clash and playing more hours than Iād probably admit. Iāve met lifelong friends and fallen in love through this experienceāmore than I ever have in real life. After a while, I did what so many others have done: I hit the āCreate a Worldā button.
That first attempt? An absolute disaster. My test world was just a mess of duplicated objects, and the whole concept didnāt click for me. I abandoned it. But one night, when Horizons felt a little quieter, I decided to try again. I wanted to make a gameānot just a space, but an actual experience.
Around the same time, Arena Clash released a template.
Not only did I learn the logic of codeblocks by digging through those scripts, but I also learned how to build an experienceāsomething engaging, interactive, and fun. Fast forward to now, and Iāve got over 55 published worldsāor moreāand counting.
Being asked to join the Meta Horizon Creator Program (MHCP) flipped my world upside down in the best way possible. The community, the creative outlet, the freedom to build literally anything you can imagineāitās endless.
My skills have evolved with every world Iāve built, as new tools and features keep pushing my creativity further. My latest world, Bubble Buddies, took a few months to develop. Keep in mindāI did it all solo, with a bit of AI scripting help. Between being a father of three, working full-time, competing in contests, and building other worlds, being tired is just part of the routine at this point, LOL.
Bubble Buddies challenged me in ways no other project has. If I had to compare it to anything, itās similar to The Office in its structureābut instead of a full team, itās just me.
If I had to pick one world Iām most recognized for, it would have to be the UP Parkour series (1-5). Escape rooms are another space Iāve experimented with, and Iāve been able to design them so that riddles and solutions change every time you play. The goal? No one gets bored. If you come back, you get a different challenge.
Some goals as a creator would be to do this full-time. I want the freedom to build non-stop without limits. Iād love to finally be featured in Centralānever have been, and seeing my work recognized at that level would be surreal. Bubble Buddies is a solid world, but not enough people even know it exists. That needs to change. My ideas are constantly brewingāIād love to bring on a team to help bring them to life.
I also want to create a community where creators can openly discuss the good, the bad, and the great about Horizon Worlds. A space where new creators can ask for help without fear of being judged or ignored.
This platform literally changed my life. I have no idea where Iād be if I hadnāt taken that leapāand built that truly terrible first world, let alone if I didn't grab the headset when I did, BUT everything happens for a reason right!
And if you made it this far, I look forward to working with yall in the future and cant wait to see what everyone creates. Thanks for reading. Letās keep building. -13_Chris
Hi Chris, aka 13_Chris,
I hope you are well! I totally get starting from a dark place and finding a lifeline in unexpected places. Itās wild isn't it for some of us, a headset diving into VR was more than what we originally thought it was going to be.
With three kids and a full time job in the mix, I can't even imagine but I will take a guess, are your children the first ones to tryout your worlds? How much of them give you inspiration? Do you own fish?? I chuckled at your āabsolute disasterā first attempt. Weāve all been there with a messy creative start. Mostly maybe dipping back into your build and trying new things over and over again. Piecing apart template scripts is the most fun to do!
Now, I never experienced your Bubble Buddies yet, however I have UP Parkour literally in my saved world. (I had to screenshot) Really Kool seeing your posting here on the forum, I posted my intro a while back in this chain and even mentioned how I was inspired by some game aspects from other worlds to implement in my parkour world. One being referenced from UP Parkour. Your UP Parkour world was one of the first worlds I dipped into when I was building my platformer parkour world. I went into a hangout world and while asking people if they wanted to test out my game world, a moderator offered me the suggestion to try out UP Parkour. Your world inspired me to add "Saved Checkpoints". And doing so, I learned codeblock script for saved checkpoints, which was a blast.
Joining into the Meta Horizon Creator Program mustāve felt like a well deserved win and a win every time you publish a world. Not being featured in Central yet? Maybe thatās their oversight, maybe they can't get passed levels 25 and up haha. The awesome thing to thing about... Central didn't suggest me your game, some person in another world did š
Yes! Always agreed when others say this, The Horizon platform's potential, itās endless, and itās Kool to see how itās changed your life.
Looking forward to seeing what you design up next, keep building, Ill check out Bubble Buddies š
Chris, canāt wait to hear more from you down in the Metaverse.
Cheers,
