What is this weird sunburst that shows up when I test the live game on mobile, but not in the editor

What is this strange sunburst icon in the middle of my  map? There are no objects there, it doesn't show up in the editor. But when I test this game on my phone, I see this. I'm having a ton of issues tonight with objects showing up in the editor and working fine, but not showing up on the phone...and then this weird sunshine icon that mysteriously appeared. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

  • Ok I figured this out. This is apparently a VFX object I'm trying to attach to the player that for the life of me I can't. I have no idea why a stopped VFX object shows this sunburst, though. And the weird thing is, once I deleted this object (which was in a different location than this at start), the objects that worked in the editor but wouldn't display on mobile began to show up, however the triggers on them no longer trigger when the player hits them. Uh...wewird.

In order to attach a VFX to a player you have to group it with an object and then attach the group to the player. Make sure that the properties of the group have the Avatar Attachable toggle turned on, under the More category. If you don't see this option, confirm that the group is collidable and animated first.

  • Ok now the whole thing is just messed up--I can go back to a previous days backup, publish it, and some weird version of the world is live instead of what I published. The most current world which works fine in the editor, when published--none of the character collisions seem to work anymore on device and some objects just straight up don't appear. I dunno...maybe there's some maintenance going on for the live servers?
