Challenge Overview
This challenge introduces you to the Masked texture type in Horizon Worlds, which is great for creating grass, trees, flowers, and other semi-transparent objects.
You’ll learn how to:
- Change the material name in Blender.
- Export FBX from Blender.
- Import _Masked Texture into Horizon.

Challenge Steps:

Download provided Blend file
- Download the blend file and take a look at what's inside.
- Navigate to the materials tab and look at how the material is named.
- Locate the texture provided with the Blend file bundle and observe how the textures are named.
- Export FBX from the blend file and prepare for desktop editor import.

Import to desktop editor!
- Open up the desktop editor and make a new world.
- Find your way to the Asset Library tab, then my assets.
- Add new, then choose 3d model.
- Locate your prepared FBX file and textures provided and import!
Skills You’ll Develop:
- Learn a new texture type: _Masked
- Learn how the _Masked material type is named in Blender
- Learn how it's bundled to be brought into the desktop editor
