360 PNG, JPG, where to find

I want to change the background environment. The software tells me to use a 360 PNG or JPG file. Where can I find some free ones. How do I upload it to my Quest 3? I see where I and change the image. It shows 3 examples, but I'm not sure how to add/upload one that I find.

  • Hi there,

Thanks for posting into our forum. We see you're wondering how to set up a custom environment on your Meta Quest headset, and we'd be happy to show you how to do this! While we can't assist with helping you find a photo website you can use, we'll certainly assist you in showing how to upload the images and how to collect them using the Quest browser, rather than a computer. Please see the below steps:

    1. Press  Meta button or  Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
    2. Select the clock on the left-hand side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
    3. Select  Settings in the top right, then select  Environment setup.
    4. Select Upload next to Upload a skybox to use your own image.
      • You can download images from Browser by hovering over an image and pressing  Y button or  B button on your controller, then selecting Save image.

Custom Skybox view isn't available in groups of two or more and may not work in all environments.

Once all of these steps are completed you'll be able to set up the background environment of your choosing on your device! We hope these steps makes things a bit easier for you but if you have any follow up questions or concerns, please just let us know and we'll do our best to continue assisting.

    Thanks!

  • There should be an app called "Files" on your Q3 headset. In "Files" you have a folder "Panoramas" and also "Spacial Videos". There are a couple of example files in those folders. There's also a Media folder, where your screenshots get saved. This latter is the folder where the Q3 looks for files to set as your virtual skybox. I'm not sure how to copy files from the Panorama folder to the Media folder, however. You can probably upload files to Q3 simply by connecting a USB cable from your PC to the headset. You might also be able to upload/download images using the MetaHorizon app on a mobile phone by saving images to the "cloud" then downloading via the Gallery app on the Q3, but I have only done this one-way from the Q3 to a PC.

Is there a free photo website that I can use to obtain 360-degree photos, and how would I upload them from my computer to the headset file?
