App sharing from child to parent

Meta quest 3S with gift voucher to buy games: my son bought and downloaded job simulator using gift card. Now we are unable to share it with any other users, even though app sharing is enabled. Anyone else experiencing this?

As your parent account is probably the first one on the headset (admin), the usual approach is to buy the games using your (parent) account, then share them to the child accounts/users underneath it. You can't share games/apps upwards from secondary accounts.

  • Thanks for responding! V helpful. Do you think I might be able to get Meta to undo the purchase and redo it the right way around? Does this seem like a bug? If my son is allowed to spend the money he should be allowed to share the purchases!

This is not a bug, it's just how app sharing on Quest works. Only the admin can share games, but that does not hinder additional accounts to make their own purchases.

Look in the link below how to refund a game. This works, if the purchase is less than 14 days ago and was played under 2 hours.

Refunds for apps and games purchased on Meta Horizon Store

If you are not eligible for the automatic refund anymore, you can reach out to support.... maybe they refund the purchase anyway.
