Arizona sunshine 2 quest 3 low memory crash since march update

Hi All,

Since I updated arizona sunshine 2 I now get low memory error and it crashes. I noticed during the update that I had to delete some programs because the app has gone from 12.5 gb to 25gb. Was there a high texture pack upgrade? Because it looks like the quest 3 can't handle it.

Please advise how to roll back so I can finally finish this awesome game.

Awaiting your reply.

  •  Since the March update of Arizona Sunshine 2 on Quest 3, some users have reported experiencing low memory crashes. This issue may stem from increased resource demands or optimization challenges introduced in the update. Players can attempt troubleshooting steps such as clearing cache, Fastest Internet Provider near me closing background apps, or restarting the device. Developers are likely aware of the issue and may release patches to address it.

Hey there, microscott! Thank you for reaching out. We understand how important it is to play your games, especially when you are working on getting to the end. We would love to look into this and see how we can help you out.

First, we wanted to mention that you can see updates for some games on their respective store pages if the developers have posted about them, which it looks like they have done for Arizona Sunshine 2 under "Updates".

Next, it sounds like you are having issues with only that single application. Have you contacted the developers about this? Otherwise, we do have some options to try out:

    1. Turn the headset off.
    2. Wait 20-30 minutes.
    3. Turn it back on and try the game again.

And these steps if a restart didn't work:

    1. Make sure you have Cloud Backups enabled.
    2. Check Your Account Backups to see if that game supports Cloud Backups and when the last backup was, if it does.
    3. If your backup for the game is more recent, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Please give these a shot and let us know how they work for you. If you are still having trouble, please let us know so we can see what else we can suggest to get things going once again!

I am sorry, but what a total joke meta support has become. You release bugged updates, and instead of fixing the bug you tell folks to keep their quest off for 20 minutes, which does absolutely nothing, and is about as useful as telling someone with a computervirus to turn their computer off for 3 days. Team facepalm.

I'm not with meta on this but its the developers that hasn't optimised it to work on quest and not been tested right to be allowed on the store, do message the developers as they seem to ignore this subject I emailed a few times and got no reply but instant reply about metro

I can confirm that the memory leak is a fault with Meta Horizon OS. In every single post about this memory leak Meta support tries to blame the developer of apps. It is META HORIZON'S fault not the apps. Fix the Horizon OS, it's been so long and most people cannot use the headset they way it was advertised. Every game and app I use on my Meta Quest 3 runs out of RAM and crashes after 5-15 minutes of use because of a memory leak in the horizon software. I have the good headset with the largest memory space. Yes I have turned it off an on again, yes I have enabled cloud saving and uninstalled and reinstalled my games and apps. I have done every troubleshoot option that support has suggested and everything still hits a RAM limit and crashes. Fix the OS and in addition, give consumers access to the RAM cache so we can manually clear it.

I figured out why it was crashing, and I do agree it is a memory issue; however, the game is designed to run on a 90hz default meta quest 3 resolution, and any other configurations you might be using will cause the game not to behave correctly.

As a note, you are offered the PC version along with the meta version, so the 40$ is kind of worth it for both PC and meta version, compared to the same price for just the Steam PC.

        Hope that helps :)

Did the developers manage to sort this issue or did you just cope with the problem? I.e. keep coming back into the game and carrying on.

I noticed that the original issue was posted several months ago and its just started happening to me. Its happened several times now and I find it really frustrating. Its spoiling the the whole game, I'm only playing 10-20mins at a time before it boots me out with the low memory message.

I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled the game yet as I'm paranoid that I will lose my game. I have a quest 3 and have checked that the game has back up (which it has). Do I just uninstall it and reinstall it and it remembers my game?

Aargh, that's annoying. What did you do, did you finish the game?

Shame really cos its such a good game ðŸ˜ž

Thanks for coming back to me on this btw

  • I am currently experiencing the Low Memory error.  There is nothing on the Arizona Sunshine 2 updates.  I tried getting a refund, but was instantly denied.

This is kind of a bad workaround, but it will get you the game to work at least 2-3 times longer.
You will need to tweak your Quest 3 texture resolution and lower it manually, using some external tools like SideQuest or Quest debug tool. Quest 3 default texture resolution is 1680×1760. If you lower it, I found the game can run for at least ~1 hour. That being said, the game will look very washed but playable. We are all waiting for some sort of fix for that.

  • To anyone still reading this today, Arizona Sunshine 2 still crashes all the time and it isn’t because your headset is broken. It’s just a **bleep**tily optimized game. If you’re thinking about buying it, don’t. Save the $40. I don’t think the first one crashes like this and it’s basically the same gameplay
