Ghost Mode – A True Privacy Feature for Users Who Need Protection

Hello,

This is coming from personal experience and observation of how difficult it can be to fully disconnect from unwanted communication online.

I would like to suggest a new privacy feature that I believe could truly help many users who deal with harassment, unwanted attention, or simply need peace for their mental well-being.

Today, blocking someone on WhatsApp/Facebook/Instagram isn’t always enough.

Even when you block a person, they can still return using a new number, a new account, or a different device. This means there is currently no real way to fully protect yourself from someone persistent.

Idea: Ghost Mode

A mode where the user becomes completely invisible across the platform.

In Ghost Mode:

  • You do not appear in search
  • No one can message you
  • No contact requests appear
  • You are only visible to people you personally approve
  • The only way to contact you is through a private invitation link you share

In other words, people cannot see you unless you allow them.

This gives users full control over who can reach them.

Why it matters

For some people, this is not just convenience — it can be emotional protection, safety, and peace of mind.

Social platforms connect us, but sometimes we also need a way to disconnect safely without deleting our accounts or changing our numbers.

Consideration

This mode may not be suitable for public figures or users who rely on visibility — and that is perfectly fine. It is not meant for everyone.

It is simply an optional privacy layer for those who truly need it.

Thank you for considering this idea. I believe Ghost Mode can offer a safe and healthy digital space for many of us.

Hmm, I wonder whom or how you send an invitation link if everybody decides to use "ghost mode".🤔
