Hyperscape Capture Beta

Where can I find details on how to improve the quality of a capture beyond the pop up tips? I'd love to know more about the 3 steps and what is taking place during each. I saw a low storage warning during one of my scans. I assumed that was for my local headset. Are there any space requirements we need to know? Can't wait till we can share space or download useable results Unreal or Unity.

    Hello WTFGamer,

We’re genuinely excited that you’re diving into Meta Horizon Hyperscape Capture (Beta), it’s a fresh and fascinating experience, and your enthusiasm means a lot to us!

To help you get the most out of your captures, we recommend checking out this helpful page filled with tips and insights. It’s a great starting point for learning how to enhance the quality of your scans and make the most of the app’s features.

Regarding the low-storage warning you encountered. That message refers to your local Quest headset storage. While the Hyperscape Capture app itself is just 254.85 MB, the raw data from a large scan can take up several gigabytes before it's uploaded for processing. To avoid interruptions, it’s a good idea to ensure you have enough free space available before starting a big capture.

Since this is an early access release, the app is still evolving, which means some best practices are still being discovered. If you run into any problems or have suggestions, your feedback is incredibly valuable to the developers and helps shape the future of the experience.

    Happy exploring!

Thanks for the tips. I've had some scale issues when revisiting created spaces. Sometimes I load in as a giant or a hobbit. At times it seems like the floor is set at the wrong height. Is this tied to the guardian setup when you view the results of scans? I'm taking my headset to different locations for viewing the scans. Some of them don't have boundaries set. I've gone back to these same scans and have seen them look normal after an odd viewing somewhere else. A way to manually adjust scale and floor height would be an awesome addition.

        Hi again WTFGamer,

We really appreciate the feedback from your experience so far!

As always with Betas you may encounter bugs that we haven't fully ironed out yet, so it really helps us if our community reports them!

To report a bug from your Meta Quest.

        1. Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
        2. Select the clock on the left-hand side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
        3. Select Report problem.
        4. Select Include or Don't include to add complete logs and diagnostics.
        5. Follow the instructions to submit your report.

Looking forward to seeing you back in the Metaverse soon!

  • I found that if you move more slowly during the scans it will capture better! Also the lighting needs to be super bright otherwise once it’s created your world it will come out somewhat grainy and distorted in places.

I have been testing with Hyperscape and have one question and one suggestion.

    1. The question as mentioned earlier, is how can you get sharper images. Have tried different light, different scan speeds and still not as sharp as I see on several YouTube videos.
    2. I just did a 40min detailed scan of a Board room for a presentation and between switching to the last step, hit the cancel in error of the continue. There was no warning "are you sure you want to cancel", all that time went down the drain and I had to wait for another opportunity to do my scan and wait for the headset to recharge. Can you add a failsafe to each step as it's easy to have the controller when coming back on after a long scan, accidently hit the cancel as it's so close to the "continue."

    Hey brianlrichards!

We came across your post and wanted to ask if you would be able to Submit a Bug Report so that our engineers can have a look into this for you!

We hope this issue is resolved soon and our engineers can get to the bottom of this ASAP!

I switched the sleep modes to max and that solved the problem with uploads failing.

  • Is it possibel to use Hyperscape Capture to capture a space without a wifi connection or with just a week connection, then upload it once WiFi is available? This would be great for capturing spaces away from home.

No. The app won't run properly without a connection. Use your phone to make a hotspot. This is new streaming tech disguised as a tech demo. We are stress testing servers for them.
