I'm not able to purchase games and apps

Hello, I Just got an Quest 3s on christmas, I have it set it up and I played around with some of the pre installed stuff and some free games, but for some odd reason I'm not able to buy games on the store. I tried two different cards from the same bank on the Oculus itself, the app and a laptop and none of them worked. The desktop and app both gave an error along the lines "unable to add payment method" or "account restrictions error" I dont have any account restrictions at least i dont know of I follow the ToS, code of conduct etc. Is this happening or happened to anyone else?

  • Try using web browser to add a credit card under Meta Accounts Center, it's used for identification. There is separately, a Meta Horizon Store that uses the same card for buying stuff (I think this is for buying standalone Quest apps) and an Oculus Store account that uses separate payment credentials, where you can also add payment methods (I think this is for buying Link PCVR games). It's confusing having these three separate areas where payment methods can be set up. Maybe that's the problem. Check all three sites and make sure all have a valid payment method and that none of those payment methods have expired.

Also I suggest setting up a STORE PIN in your headset to prevent unauthorized purchases in case someone hacks your accounts. Be careful not to lose your pin number if you do!

  • It can be said that everyone is facing this problem because of Meta's ridiculous AI system that limits accounts for no reason..

Play free games for a while and watch movies and test every 3-4 days, it will probably fix itself.

    Corresponding with support doesn't help.

The next solution is to buy the game from Steam without any hassle and play with the Steam link.
