Immersive home: too ambitious, too soon.

The new home environment is just too many half baked features to justify replacing the home environment we had before. What used to be a simple environment you could change to different themes is now a clunky app that asks for users' attention, but provides so little it's as if it's training us to ignore it.

Every time you enter the home whether it be closing Pass-though or exiting a game, it gives you a loading screen for Immersive Home. It makes it feel like it's trying to start up an app whenever you're closing one. What main menu anywhere does this? The old one certainly didn't and was much better for it!

The menu for the home, the one used to change the scenery, is barren in terms of content. Maybe it makes changing the look easier since you don't have to navigate through settings, but there's also panels that talk about the room features that do nothing for the menu. They tell you about the mirror and the meta horizon portal objects, they seem like they should be buttons to toggle the looks of the room, or any option to change, but they're so featureless and boring looking that it's practically an advertisement for future features in the form of an asset listing. Nobody wants to look at ads when they're changing their settings!

The Horizon portal just opens the horizon worlds app, something that you can already do by finding it in the library (as well as example worlds that can't be hidden or removed) it would be nice if you could maybe set up some preset portals to different apps you enjoy, expending the pinned menu bar that's already limited by the feed and store buttons, but as is, it's just another feature that distracts you from your home that you can't opt out of.

The previous home options had its character, worked well, had desirable customization options, and made it easy to do what you wanted with your headset. In its current state, while the Immersive Home is quite pretty, it's limited options, unfinished features, and bloated size or whatever makes it require a loading menu, takes so much feeling out of the home experience that they should have delayed it until it was more finished, if not indefinitely.

Very rarely if ever, I reckon. They're all away on Christmas vacation anyway. You could try submitting ideas to the Feedback Center, but not a great wall of text.

  • Immersive Home Loft Invite Issue

Several of my friends have tried to invite group members to their immersive home loft, but it is grayed out still. We can invite and/or go to any world, but not to our individual lofts. We have tried all troubleshooting found in help. Nothing works.

We understand that you want to invite your friends into your immersive home. To do this, you will need to create a group with them. They can be done by following these steps:
    1. Press the Meta button on your controller
    2. Then select People > New Group
    3. Then select people to add to the group.
    4. After this, select Invitation.

This does not work for any of us. We all tried. ALL of my friends are having this issue regardless of headset version (our group has Q2, Q3S, and Q3 headsets and all are running current OS).

Our friends used the old home invite all the time to hang in a private space with minimal environmental distractions. It is an important feature for our VR usage.

They need to fix this issue ASAP with the new immersive home loft!
