I have 3 TB of free space in my desktop PC with ample grunt to run other games on High settings in VR. No problems with steam games. Something else is causing the issue for me and I suspect some others, most games need plenty of space so if that's a factor uninstall or upgrade.
Check out the suggestion I made about clean boot. Hopefully it's the fix for you too.
