Meta headset app for treadmill use

I have been working on an app with a developer that allows you to walk on a treadmill and see the area around  your feet and part of the treadmill while viewing a 360 video. The videos would be hiking in the woods, a beach, or maybe trails. This feature allows for comfort and safety. I am looking for input on the features that users would like to see.

  • For me, seeing my feet and part of the treadmill is key - it makes it feel safer and more realistic. I’d also like features like adjusting the speed of the virtual walk to match the treadmill, some interactive elements like picking up virtual objects or following markers, and maybe simple stats like steps, calories, or distance in the corner.

klen.loreni  That's a very good idea. It can expand the possibilities of fitness app use. The good news is that there is already a solution if you are willing to spend a few dollars. There are halo straps available where you can remove the faceplate entirely and see all surroundings including your feet moving on the treadmill. I haven't used it but a friend of ours brings her Quest to the gym and uses it on the treadmill. It's far better than any other solution as you aren't using the pass through cameras which, let's be honest, they're pretty bad. If I can find the one she's using I'll let you know! 😊 P.S. However, just look online yourself there are a number of brands at different price levels.

Thanks for your input. I am curious about the halo strap and will look into it. The purpose of my app is that I can put on a headset, step on the treadmill in mid January in Ohio ( currently 10 degrees f) and be walking on a beach in Florida or a trail in Colorado in 360 degrees and be able to look down and still see my feet and part of the treadmill.

Our current version is set for about 3 mph while viewing in real time and can be adjusted up to about 4.5 or down to 1.5 mph. you can adjust the view with a little zoom and pan left or right to keep you walking on the trail. We have not tried to integrate the stats you mentioned as this would be a bit of work with the weight, age etc. Maybe someday. Right now the stats on the treadmill itself will have to do. Thank you for your input.
