Regarding the response Item Part 4: "...They can now purchase the app."
With what money can my kid buy the app with? Can the parent securely approve a purchase remotely with their credit card without involving the kid ? This feature is still missing from MetaQuest.
Regarding the last paragraph: "Put a pin number on your child's account..."
This response is a bit vague. How and where does this Pin number go? Is it a remote transaction? If not, why not? This feature is still missing from MetaQuest.
Hey LunarAce! Thanks for reaching back out. In order for your child to be able to request to purchase a game from our store they will need to have a payment method on their account. This is where having a PIN number for purchases on your account comes in handy. Before any purchase is made a PIN will have to be entered manually on their headset or mobile app. If you have an idea on how to improve this service then we would recommend posting it over on our Ideas board. Engineers regularly check that board and add features that are recommended by our community. Thanks!

This has been the worst experience trying to figure out what should be straightforward things... My son has meta gift cards he got for Christmas and even after reading all of this I still don't understand how to allow him to make in-game purchases. If he tries on his account it just says canceled. How do I set up payment on his account? I have it set up on mine but he wants to make an in-game purchase on his account.

I am a mom who had questions and got few answers. I think the recommendation has something to do with going on your kid’s device, change the password so they don’t know and do what you need? Then they have to ask you for the password every time… but ask someone from meta. Good luck.

Hi there, we understand there are some questions and concerns regarding gift cards and in-app purchases. We would like to provide some clarity on why you may be experiencing some of these issues, along with a suggestion on how you can help improve this feature and your VR experience.
- Gift Cards can be used only for buying games or apps
- Even if there is sufficient gift card credit to cover the entire purchase, the account will still require a payment method to be associated with it to complete any purchases.
- Gift card credit has the same limitations as other Meta Store Credit, including the inability to combine it with a promo code on the same purchase.
While we can't guarantee anything, plenty of ideas that gained traction with the community in our Ideas Forums were implemented into future updates to help improve the user experience of our community as a whole. We'd recommend starting a thread over there that the rest of you can comment on to see how much traction it can get. Our engineers definitely take note of the popular ideas, suggestions, and feedback that's posted there. Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Same situation here. My son got a Meta Quest gift card as a gift. He can’t use it for in-app purchases to buy virtual currency in the game he plays. Terrible experience magnified by the fact that not only is my son affected, but the family member who bought him the gift. This is like the Stone Age of gaming for this platform. Why can’t they figure this out before launching child accounts.

So it's been confirmed that you can't use meta gift cards for in-game purchases for a kid's account? Yeah, my son's dad and uncle got him $50 gift cards so now we have $100 that he can't use... He's been upset, I've been super annoyed trying to figure this whole thing out. Can't return gift cards either. It sucks because people who gifted them assumed he would be able to use them.
