Oculus Rift S stuck on Checking Sensors

Trying to setup Oculus Rift S on Win 10 computer.

Haven't used it for 2 years and have new PC.

When running setup it is stuck on Checking Sensors and won't progress.

Tried multiple USB ports.

Changed room, lighting, cleaned sensors etc.

Ensured Power Options correct.

Can't figure out how to submit a support ticket?

  • Hi TheSecret1 🙂

Unfortunately, this is a pretty common issue, as you can see using the forum search.

if this is a common issue I'm surprised their isn't a lawsuit, seems like planned obsolescence.

Once they updated the software to meta quest whatever my rifts started doing the same. I get they don't plan to support the rift s permanently but their software updating made mine into a brick and so far no luck, least they could do is a trade in program. I'd trade in my rift if they would heavily discount a new quest. I prefer the cable and PC setup though.

I know many people have issues with their Rift/Rift S, but there are also many people that have their Rift or Rift S still running without issues.🤷‍♀️

On the other hand, Quest players also have sometimes trouble to link their headsets, so this problem not only applies to the no longer supported headsets.

Quest players just have the advantage that they still can use their headsets standalone or they maybe use steam link, until the link app works again. So, they are not completely lost.

Btw. you can cable link the Quest to PC, if you don't want to use airlink.🙃
