purchased games for child account

I’m a parent managing a child account. My child is the Oculus user. She wants to play Beat Saber so I purchased it from the store and gave her permission to use it, but in her headset it just says “Request sent.” I’m sure I must be missing a step, but I have no idea how to get her access to this game.

I hope someone can help!

  • I’m having the exact same issue with my son’s account.  I gave permission for Fruit Ninja 2 and bought the game, but on his headset it still says “request sent” (even though I accepted) and bought the game.  What am I missing or not doing?!? 🤷‍:male_sign:

I find the interface terrible and confusing between Meta accounts, parental supervision, and the Oculus app. 😡

  • I had to switch to my account before the headset recognized that the game was available.

Also just to note, supervised accounts can only play the basic Beat Saber, if you purchase any music add-on packs the supervised account can't seem to access them. I don't know if that's a common DLC problem on the Quest or what.

The one song I purchased for him shows up. He can access it. But He can no longer request more addons.

Same here, m really struggling to know how to manage my child’s account. She’s requested games, I’ve approved and given access, then purchased with her gift card but it is now only showing on my profile and not hers. I know I’m missing something but I followed the instructions given so don’t know what it is. PLEASE HELP!

At least it is showing on yours. They are only showing on my son's and then gifting options are gone. He can't request anything anymore.

It would sure be great if there was someone we could call and get technical support… does Meta (one of richest companies in the world!) have any care for customers?!  This texting bulletin board BS is not working.

Hey again, wendy751. We wanted to follow up with you and see if you still need assistance with your Beat Saber and Asgard's Wrath 2 issue? We will be patiently waiting for your response and hope to get you back on track! Thank you and have a wonderful day.

  • Same issue here. Add to it that a few days ago I was able to gift my son a Weeknd song, and now want to buy the pack. It won't let me gift it and it won't let him request it. Additionally, the game uninstalled itself from my parent profile and won't let me reinstall it.

Also never received the code/email to download Asgard's Wrath 2 for free. And support is unresponsive.

  • My child's account can't request any game above G (the age restriction on the account due to age). I bought a free PG game and I have tried to allow it on my child's account - but can't. The request button is not active despite the site saying this should be.

I contacted support about the issues - went around in circles and finally after a whole month was told it's not possible. That the account can't access PG games or request them as they can only play G games due to the age restriction. Completely ridiculous.

  • Well, I'm glad I came here before purchasing Beat Saber for my son's account.  It's perfectly clear to me that Meta has no desire to help parents monitor their children's safety in their VR accounts.  If they did, they wouldn't make it so incredibly difficult to access the parent center and purchase approved content for sharing across child accounts.  I think they figure if they make it difficult enough, we'll just give up and remove the parental controls.  Here's what I need:  a clear, step by step article that walks me through how to purchase a game for a family account and share it on both of my kids accounts.  Don't direct me to the link that just talks about how wonderful the accounts for pre-teens and teens are.  If they don't work, then they're useless.

You are correct, it's beyond difficult. I've worked out that kids can only access games based on their age. So even if I determine a game to be ok, I can't authorise my kids to play it if their age does not match the classification. No wonder so many parents end up giving up on parental controls.
