Remote Desktop won't play audio from my computer

Hi, so I recently installed VDD and I mistakenly installed Virtual Audio Drive, and ever since then my Meta Quest 3 won't detect/play back audio from my computer, my computer still plays back audio fine it's only when I use Remote Desktop that I have a problem... I already tried pressing disable audio drive, uninstall virtual audio drive and reset drive on VDD and the problem persists, any idea for a fix of this?

Have you checked that you are using the correct sound driver as your output device under Windows sound settings, or tried rolling back Windows using System Restore to a save point made just before you installed the VAD driver? When using Remote Desktop, the default sound driver should probably be set to Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device).

  • Well, when i wear the headset and try using the remote desktop then go to the soound output it shows up as oculus virtual audio device, however when i click the volume no sound plays back, unfortunately i have no system restore points since i just recently got this computer and i didn't think of creating a restore point before installing VAD...

      Check the following settings:

At the top of the Remote Desktop window, there is a hidden pop-up toolbar that lets you toggle between hearing computer audio or not.

Also, in the Meta Quest Link PC app, under Devices, click your headset, and in the right panel, scroll down and there are some audio settings. I use "Windows settings" for the audio output, but if you use the Quest's default (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) then there will be two additional toggles on that screen that also affect whether you hear the computer audio.
