Sharing apps between two quest 3 headsets

So I purchased my first quest 3 headset 512GB, and absolutely love it.  I have also purchased several apps from the meta store and they reside on my headset.  I just recently purchased another headset for my wife so that we can play the games that I purchased together.  My question is, how do I copy those games over to the new headset that my wife is going to use?  Right now I am the admin on my headset and I added her as a user on my headset so that we share until her's comes in.  Do we setup the new headset under my account, or a new account under her name?  Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Hello Conrailguy, We are delighted that you absolutely love Quest 3! Kudos for getting a device for your wife as well. Gaming and quality time-check! So let's go over the options that are available for your scenario:

    1. You can log into the new device with your wife's secondary account you created, and both of you can play the games already purchased and play the same game or different games, but the gameplay will not be together but separate adventures since it will be in offline mode. The main purpose of app sharing is to have multiple accounts on the same device when used online.

    2. If you wish to play and conquer the games together, your wife will have to have a separate account to be an admin on and be online as well.

Welcome to the world of VR gaming! We hope this information helps, and you and your wife have a fantastic time gaming!

Thank you so much for your prompt response to my issue.  It’s nice to know that people like yourself are there to help people like myself (newbie) to help with providing answers to issues like mine.  I plan on getting a couple more headsets for company to use on our newly formed game nights at my home so I’m sure I’ll need you help once again.  But until then, please keep up the good work.

I’m hoping you can help me too. I have the same scenario. I bought a Quest 3 for my wife and synced it to her account. I enabled app sharing on my Quest 3 on my account and added her to my account. When she looks for my shared apps from her Quest 3 device, she is not seeing them.  What am I missing?

Hey HockeyFan99, I noticed you are having some concerns with the app-sharing feature of the headset. Being able to share games with your significant other can be a fun experience so let me help the both of you get on the right track!

How app sharing works is by choosing the account and headset you want to use to share your games from. Once you turn on app-sharing from the admin account, you'll be able to share games to any other additional accounts on that headset specifically. This feature also only works with 1 admin account at a time, so you can't have app-sharing on for two of the same accounts on different headsets.

The only way for your wife to play with games from your account is by adding her onto your headset as an additional non-admin account, or buy doing the same to her headset.

I hope this makes sense, and if you need any clarity on it, here's the official article on the feature: Learn about App Sharing on Meta Quest headsets.

Hello,  Looking for the most updated information relevant to this moment in time 07/14/2024, is it possible to app share games across 3 or 4 headsets at this time??  If not, is that feature planning on coming?? I have figured out how to app share across 2 headsets and since we can add up to 3 separate secondary accounts, it makes sense that at some time the ability to app share across as many secondary accounts would happen so tell me, does this feature exist and if NOT will it ever exist or am I spitting into an endless void??  thanks.

  • Congrats on snagging your Quest 3 headset, it's a game-changer for sure. Since you've already added her as a user on your headset, you could set up the new one under your account for now. That way, all the games you've purchased will be accessible to both of you. As for playing together, my friends and I love bonding over games too! Speaking of gaming, have you ever thought about exploring ways to play games for money? It's a cool concept I stumbled upon recently, and it might add an extra layer of excitement to your gaming sessions together.
