Starship Home error "Couldn't find a scene mesh"

I have a created scene mesh, but the Starship Home won't start. It just returns, "Couldn't find a scene mesh" and offers the option to quit and create one. I checked permissions, and have tried recreating the mesh. No joy... what am I missing? Anyone know what the fix is for this error?

Good idea. I used your link and did just that. Thanks.

  • Hi sa5webber 🙂

I just redeemed the game to try if this happens to me too. What do you mean by creating a scene mesh?

I started the game from the library, when the game has opened I clicked on "start game" then on "launch". I did not have to create a scene mesh at any point??

Maybe try if clearing your boundary can fix your issue.

  • I believe the scene mesh must be old lingo for the space/boundary of your game space. I did already have one created for the space I mostly play in that I have used with other mixed reality games without any problems. After I launch "Starship Home" and get to the point where the error is presented, there is a button to quit the game and create a scene mesh. Pushing the button quits the game and takes me to the quest setting for creating a boundary. I did go through the process of deleting my old saved boundary and recreating it again through the button. But after restarting the game it still brought up the same error.

sa5webber  in your headset, go to settings - storage - find the game - clear app data

      This should solve your problem.🙃

That was a good idea and I was so sure that was probably going to fix it. But unfortunately it didn't. Still stuck. But thank you for the idea.

  • I know uninstalling the game and reinstalling it seems like an obvious try, but it took your push for me to follow through and try it. It was just hard for me to believe that would fix it. All of my other installs have just been so seamless. Another lesson learned. I'm assuming something must have gone wrong with the initial install. I'm new to VR and loving it. And it's the first game that I've had problems with. Because of that, if reinstalling hadn't worked I would have probably bailed on this game as opposed to doing a factory reset, since everything else I have installed works great. Anyway thank you, Choleni for sticking with me and helping me solve it.
