Strange bug when attempting to join live events in Horizon Worlds

I have a Quest 3 (about 8 weeks old). When I am using Horizon Worlds and try to enter any portal to a live event, instead of teleporting me to the event, the Quest Universal UI appears, showing a window for the Meta Store, specifically showing a page to install Horizon Worlds. But the strangest thing is that this is not the official Horizon Worlds store page - the official page has over 15,000 user ratings (with an average rating of 3.5), but the page that appears only has 16 ratings (with an average rating of 2.3)! Also strange is that it has a "download" button, while on the official store page it has a "start" button (because, of course, Worlds is already installed on my Quest 3 as part of the Universal UI and it cannot be uninstalled or re-installed). Also, when I clicked "Install", it said "Installing" but the progress bar got stuck at nearly 100% and nothing happened.

You can see in the screenshot above, I tried to join the "Hot Ones" live event from Horizon Central, but when I clicked "Join" the store page (seen on the right of the screenshot) opened up. If you look closely, you can see in the bottom-left of that window that that version of the app only has 16 ratings with a score of 2.3, and also that the "Download" button is enabled!

The next screenshot shows the official Worlds app from the Meta Store. You can see that this one has 15K ratings with a score of 3.5, and only a "Start" button, which proves that these two store pages are not the same version of Worlds!

    So finally, a solution. I've just received the official v81.1034 update on my Quest 3. I now have access to both the old and new Horizon Central. After updating, the first time I tried entering the Horizon Central portal from my new home environment, it said I had to wait because HC was still downloading. So after a few minutes I went to the new Horizon Central and found a portal to one of the Red Rocks Live Events. IT WORKED! YAY! Then I went to the old Horizon Central, and then tried a portal to the same live event and IT ALSO WORKED! YAY! I also tested on the Blackpink concert and one of the iHeart Radio live events, and they also worked 😁.

    So after a recent Worlds update, I've found a new bug in the Horizon Worlds menu, which I believe is caused by the above "live events" bug, as shown by this video I recorded:

    Basically, it's not possible to click on any menu items that feature any live events, the menu just freaks out!

    Same issue here. Cannot access live streams for Meta Connect, which are recommended on my Feed. I am redirected to download a version of Worlds with ~50 reviews (1.5 stars, mostly people complaining about this issue), which will not complete an install. This happens on Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro, with different accounts.

    Why would developers trust the changes announced for Horizon Worlds and Horizon Engine if the most basic product features, which have worked fine for years, are now broken for 2 months with no fix?

    @metasupport. There are loads of people experiencing this issue who have been waiting for months for a decent response. 

    I also found multiple people commenting on the reviews of the page which appears when trying to go to a live vr and it asks you to install it again 

    All of them have commented on this issue. 

    What are you not telling us????

    Horizon Worlds app updated again today (22 Sep 2025) on my Quest 3 but the bug persists. Here is a video I just recorded that demonstrates the bug. I've compared the "official" version of the Worlds app that I have installed against the dodgy version that opens in the Meta store page when I try to join a live event, so you can see that they are different. I am unable to attach this video to a bug report in my headset, it says the video is too large 😩.

    Having the same issue as everyone else. Today is Oct 13, 2025. Trying to watch the BlackPink VR show, when I’m using Horizon Worlds and try to enter any portal to any live event not just BlackPink, instead of taking me to the event it takes me the Meta Store, specifically showing a page to install Horizon Worlds. Worlds is already installed on my Quest 3. When I try to install it it just shows “installing” indefinitely. Please fix this! I’ve already tried to submit a report as well!

      I suspect the solution is to wait for the Quest v81 update with the revamped Horizon Central. I saw one single post from someone who got v81 and said that it fixed the live event problem.

        I'm on the Public Test Channel and have had v81 for a few months.  On two different Quest 3 headsets.  It has not solved the problem.

    steve_40 I just got v81 this afternoon too, but as my region doesn't have worlds I can't open the old one or get into the new one. I changed my environment after it installed to the night mountain scene, it's pretty nice but a bit low res which surprised me. My mining town had much better resolution. Now the only thing is and maybe you know where it is, I can't find the setting to change my home environment back to the original one and I can't find where to download the other choices. Maybe I'm a bit slow today 😂😂 I checked through the settings on mine and I can't find it anywhere 🤓🤓🤓🤓

      steve_40​ I don't have my headset nearby right now, but there's definitely a toggle button somewhere in "Settings" that allows you to flip back to the old Envrionment.  (And I also had the Mining Town ... it was beautiful ... and agree that the new Home Environment out beyond the balcony is a little disappointingly low-res).

        I just discovered it! It's a very wierd way to get to old environments. If you go into "help and tips" scroll down to "change your virtual environment" and in there you can find your old environments. There is a message to say they will be removed soon but you can use them for now.
