Solved

The camera app settings don't take effect.

I have a problem recording my screen in portrait or landscape aspect ratios, even after I change the aspect ratio in the advanced camera settings, it still records in square 1:1 aspect ratio.
Sometimes, it randomly works, but most of time it doesn't.
It also always uses the right eye, even if I set the Eye to left eye.

This has been happening for a while now, and even though I'm on v81 the latest version available to me, it still doesn't fix my problem.

Also note that I didn't have this problem when I first got the headset, it was fine, I would say it started happening around version 76 or 77.

  • Hello Hakam_Go,

We understand you're having some trouble adjusting the aspect ratio while recording on your Meta Quest device, and we're here to help you through it.

Depending on what you're trying to capture, some apps or experiences may lock the orientation or aspect ratio to ensure the best viewing experience. That can sometimes make it feel like you're stuck with a certain format.

The good news is you can explore and tweak these settings yourself! Just head into the Advanced Camera Settings on your Meta Quest device, there you’ll find options that may help you customize your recording setup to better suit your needs.

If you’ve already tried that and the issue is still persists, we recommend using the Bug Report feature to let our engineering team know. Your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us improve the experience for everyone.

Thanks for your patience, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need a hand with anything else!

  • If a setting doesn't stick, restart the headset after making the change.

  • MetaStoreHelp steve_40 thank you both for the help, but I figured out the issue today and I will post it in this comment for reference, I was using a third-party (side-loaded) app to optimize graphics on the headset, and that app had settings for the Camera app that actually override the settings in the Camera app, that's why those setting didn't take any effects.
    Thank you all again!
