Unable to purchase add on - Family Center

I am trying to purchase game add on(s) for my child's supervised account.
The game in question is "Sail", but it happens with others as well.

I receive an email to review the request in the Family Center.
After allowing access to the app by clicking Allow and purchase I get a notification to
Leave Family Center and purchase app in Meta Horizon Store.
I click Got to Store, which immediately brings up the This page isn't available. The link may be broken...etc.

Using my mobile device, when clicking the View request email link, the Meta Horizon app is launch and just sits on the main page with the ability to review the request or initiate the purchase.
All notifications are turned on, the app and all the devices are all running the latest updates.

Any help would be appreciated

  • Instead of trying to use the broken email link, have you tried actually opening the Store within the MetaHorizon mobile app and purchasing the add-on directly, now that you have given permission? Or even purchasing it from the Store app in your child's headset? You can also access the store via their web page.

    I did try to purchase/gift the add-on from the store directly, both via the Horizon app as well as the webpage. But no luck.

    Digging a little deeper, the root of the issue appears to be how the Family Center treats the purchase of in-game currency, by calling it an "add-on". We have run into this issue with both Animal Company and now with Sail.

    When attempting to purchase in-game currency (for cosmetics, etc,.for example) the Family Center appears to treat this as if trying to purchase a DLC pack. Which typically would have a proper storefront listing on the Meta store.

    That would explain the dead link in my email, since in-game currency packs do not show up as anything searchable or purchasable from within the Store app itself.

    So it creates this infinite error loop where I cannot purchase the currency pack from the store, because there is not store listing, and trying to purchase it from the headset just restarts the loop by sending me another email to allow the purchase.

    Not sure if there is a solution path given the inner workings of the Family Center.
    Kinda frustrating.

      Here's the link to the Meta Quest Help Centre. If you select "Meta Quest  software or content", then select "Other software or content issue" it will bring you to a page where you can email support or chat with them via browser or Whatsapp.

      I think, it's not possible to make in app purchases on a child account, because like you said..... they need to be bought in the app, which is not possible for the child, because they have no payment method or wallet on their accounts.🙁

      Maybe, if you install "Sail" on your account, you were able to gift an in app purchase to your child....  I don't know if this is possible, just an idea.
