V83 - bloom and sucking battery life

Received v83 via PTC.
Previously when starting the headset, the battery icon would be faitly dull, then the meta logo would display very bright with quit a lot of bloom then after spinning it would lose the brightness and bloom.

Since the update, startup is full brightness and somehow everything is brighter and soft. When plugged in I see maybe 10 percent battery drain over an hour, with v82 I'm down 20% in 20 minutes with the headset plugged in, not even running any app.

It literally sucks.

Am I able to manually downgrade to V81 somehow?

  • You should not be surprised if you have problems with PTC releases. Some people are willing to do it to help with the discovery of these bugs of which there will be many. If it's not something you want to do, and this is the reason I don't do it, leave PTC and factory reset. I have read in some comments that you will go back to stable v79. Not sure 100% if that is correct, more experienced people than me will hopefully answer this, so maybe wait until someone confirms that. Good luck. At least you can be sure that it's just temporary. 😊

  • Hi SpartaFC πŸ™‚

You can disable PTC at any time. You will receive a warning that disabling it will perform a factory reset on your headset. This will install the latest build version, currently v81.

However, from what I've read, disabling PTC often doesn't automatically trigger a factory reset. Therefore, you must perform it manually, otherwise you will remain on your current version until the next build is released.

Choleni  Thanks for clarifying that for SpartaFC.  As for me,, I must have been in a time warp and completely forgot I'm on V81. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
