VR Headset Recommendations

Hey yall, I’ve been using my Oculus Quest 2 headset for a couple of years now for PCVR (mostly for Social VR and FPS) and it hasn’t been the greatest. The quality is ass and the cable randomly disconnects at times. I’ve been researching Headsets for a while and need some help. So here is what I’m looking for in a headset; 300-1000 dollars, Better Quality, Better PCVR connection, No Base Stations Required. The HP Reverb GX v2 seems to be the best since it’s now super cheap and seems pretty good but very outdated. If it comes to it where I’m pretty desperate for something I’ll have to pick up the Quest 3 but I honestly do not want to have to resort to that. So, does anyone have any recommendations on what I should get?

A randomly disconnecting cable probably has nothing to do with the headset. It's happening on the 3 too. As for a new headset, I'm a newbie so haven't a clue. I prefer standalone and reading the horror stories people have with connection to pc, I couldn't handle the frustration . I'd say, you should get something with a stand alone gaming option.

You could just get a Rift-S and use extreme super-sampling to lift the image quality, if you want to stay with Meta without using streaming.

I still use Rift CV1 with extreme super-sampling for dark and TAA games, Valve Index for most of my PCVR games - and got the PSVR2 and a PS5 for the PSVR2 exclusives.

I only use hmds which connect directly to the gpu, no streaming.

A great option could be PSVR2 (oled, 4k panels, 90-120 Hz) with Sony's official PCVR adaptor.
