Which info is Meta sharing with installed apps?

According to this article: https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/741121407333403/

Only apps with “User profile” in their privacy could access your username.

But it seems ambiguous to me with this article:

Does this mean username is ALWAYS shared? Or only apps with “User profile” can access to username, name and picture?

  • Hi ylogico 🙂

Yes, your username is public. Anyone can find you in the Horizon app.

I could open my app, search for your username and I could send you a follower request.😁

You can then accept, reject, follow back or even block me.

It's not nessessory to use the same app for that.

Thanks for your answerCholeni , my question is more about the info that apps can get about me just by installing them.

For instance if I install YouTube and they say “we access user id” (I didn’t check), will they have access to my username too?

      Oh, i see.

Normally all apps that have access to your username have a note on the top of the store page.

Youtube doesn't have that, so I guess, they don't have access to it.

    Thanks again!

What about “Gorilla tag”, for instance.

According to their privacy, they have access to “user id”, age group and usage data… But not “User profile”. Can they even get username?

Yes. My store info looks different...like this

      The text says this:

This app can access your display name and username, as well as your profile pictures, avatars, age group, and your follower list, as well as a list of people you follow who also have the app.

      Much easier, I guess 😉
