Yeah, I read that, but it doesn't really answer any questions about the redemption. For example, do I have to purchase the 3S through Meta's website, or can I purchase the 3S at e.g. Best Buy and provide proof of purchase at the URL provided by the Benefits Hub? I do not currently have an active XBox Game Pass subscription, if I purchase a sub before I buy the 3S do I still qualify for the promo? What happens to the games if my XBox Game Pass subscription lapses?

I think, since the "claim now" button redirects you to the Meta store page......YES, you'll need to buy it there.

Yes, you must have an active subscription, it doesn't matter if you have the subscription already for a while or you just startet it. As long as you are a subsciber BEFORE buying the Quest it'll work.
What happens to the games if my XBox Game Pass subscription lapses?
That shouldn't change a thing, since games which are bought in such promo bundles - and all other games that you purchase - are tied to your account...... so those games will remain on your account even if your xbox game pass sub ends.
