Does a worn out controller mean my quest is a brick?
My right oculus quest controller has worn out, it is no longer usable.
What do I do? It seems oculus doesn't sell them anymore. I spent a lot of money on my quest and oculus library. Am I just SOL? Is there really nothing I can do other than throw my headset away?
I understand that quest 2 is closed to the general public.... and I would never buy another oculus headset anyways after the way they have treated me.... but this is not about that.... this is about using a product that I spent $500 on a short time ago.
I mean... ok.... I spent $500 on a quest in good faith. 2 months later they delete my friends list and tell me that they no longer offer "social features" to the general public.... despite the fact that I paid full price.
Then a couple months later they tell me that in 2023 they are not going to support the $2500 game library I built on the oculus platform and that it will all simply be lost to me.
But.... here in 2021 the controllers can't be replaced?
I understand that these are not good people and they are more focused on using me than providing decent products or standing by the stuff they make.... but .... all that aside.... I just want to use the hardware I bought.....
Can anyone point me at a solution to this? I mean this is the 5th time I have had to replace a controller, I know other people must have worn out or broken controllers.... what do you do? Is there a 3rd party controller available anywhere?
The only thing I want here is the only thing I ever wanted from a VR headset.... to be able to use it.
What do I do?
I acn see you don't want anything more to do with Facebook and for many reasons I can see why. Giving up on $2500 worth of software just to not merge your oculus account shows a great strength of feeling.
Given that there are no new controllers to be bought anywhere, you'll have to scour ebay for used kit and hope for the best. At least none of your money will go to Facebook but Ebay sellers generally seem to know what used parts are worth nowadays so there are few bargains to be had.
