Anyone having trouble w/ alienware x51 using the oculus rift

Hello guys! I have alienware x51 and a Dell Monitor that has a vga and dvi port. I was using a dvi to hdmi cable with no problem but x51 has only 1 hdmi and I am planning to use the only hdmi port for my oculus rift dk2 so I bought and tried different cable for the dvi port such as (DVI cable) but its not detecting the monitor and it says no vga detected. can anyone help or give me info what to do?

    1. Wrong topic/forum
    2. I don't really understand the question :S
    3. The rift comes with a DVI to HDMI adapter, it's what I'm using right now (after going display to hdmi didn't work). But you can use the rift with the HDMI port and the Monitor with the DVI to HDMI adapter.

Try restarting your computer after connecting the different cable. Or, try switching the input on your monitor.
  • It sounds like you may need the driver enabled. Since it's a Dell, go into your bios (hit F2 during boot up phase), and look for onboard devices. See if the onboard video is disabled.

edit: if that isn't the case, call up dell at: 1-800-DELL-SUCKS (1-800-254-3692).
