Between a 5070ti and 4080

I'm able to get them used in my area for the same price but I can't seem to decide between them. I'm mostly focused on VR sim racing with a PSVR2. I see most benchmarks have them neck and neck with with 4080 just ahead. The only Blue Room benchmark I've found of both has the 4080 ahead by 10%, but I've seen some VR flight sim benchmarks that have the 5070ti ahead. I get a longer warranty with the 5070ti, but how much better performance should I expect on the 4080 if at all?

  • It should be an easy choice. One card has less warranty, is an older model, will become obsolete/unsupported sooner, is less advanced, more power-hungry and will run much hotter and noisier in VR gaming, while they are almost identical performance-wise.

Sheesh, and here I am still running a 2080 RTX on my home desktop...

If I were looking at GPU's, I'd be looking most closely at the VRAM capacity - more VRAM = more textures & meshes which means higher budget for rendering a frame before dipping into virtual textures.

Anyways, I'd probably just look around to see if anyone online has done rigorous benchmarking comparisons between the two GPU's you're considering.
