Come on Palmer, freak us!

So,

it's been over a year now since we got a glimpse at what VR might bring us through our beloved Development Kit. We've been kept busy with a steady stream of tiny bits of information regarding what OculusVR is up to behind closed doors. However, when it comes to solid facts on the current state of development, official statements on current or future specs or tasty new images out of the development process and the latest HMD-creations there's hardly anything new brought to us backers, developers and straight enthusiasts.

What I'm kindly asking you, Palmer, is wouldn't it be about time to pull down those panties and show us what you got in store right now? Maybe as a little Christmas present to the community? :D

    Well, he/them have been in a few interviews...still... a general glimpse of where we are at is always interesting... so...

    I share your enthusiasm, but there isn't anything new to say. it's going to have motion tracking, it's going to have a screen which greatly reduces screen door if not removes it, and all helpful things like minimising potential motion sickness and helpful things for those with glasses. there really isn't much else for him to say. I really want to see what developers are doing with it, and what experiences they have planned. I'd hate if we only have a handful of actual games when it's released commercially because it was too much of a risk to make a game for vr exclusively.

    all those things have been stated as what is the goal for release, it's hard to be more concrete than that short of the actual release. we've also seen many things of what has been achieved in house if you look for the vids, they aren't quite about what they are working on if you seek it out.

    genetransfer, I don't think you really got what I meant and what I'm asking for. I was asking for letting us have a glimpse at their current development process, something they did when the DK was in production (line).

    I wish they would (be able to) show us their current concepts, prototypes, finals, tech specs, results, impressions from their point-of-view on improvements and things that still need to get done (blog?). And of course, some fresh pictures. Evidence, evidence, evidence!

    And don't get me wrong, I don't mean to insist on this kind of info like others do/did because they think they have some kind of right to get this info because they've backed the DK. It's just a kind request for some precious Christmas present. ;)

    I guess I see what you guys mean. yeah I just see it from the projection of what they have said (based on some of what iribe has said over the last few months) and based on them coming through on dk1 (knocked my socks off) they will come through on the other things they have pointed towards. but yeah I could go some actual official in house reveals for Christmas, why not, but they aren't going to show anything half baked most likely. but yeah would be cool.

    I agree with you, Oculus VR should let us know where they are with the development of the Rift ... But maybe do not do this because they are already entered in an advanced stage of development and can not do the competitors know the technical specifications of Oculus Rift. We hope that this is the reason for their silence. Personally I paused myself ... just expect to see advertising Oculus Rift with the price and the technical characteristics and what kind of computer should I buy to make it work well. We all know that by 2014 we will be able to buy Oculus Rift and this is enough for me, I shall wait.

    It's cooling down cuz most of us are PLAYING instead of trolling the forums while waiting for the arrival of our saintly DK...

    What's most disturbing to me is that there is still no official release date. Not even a Qx estimation... all we got for now is a fuzzy "2014". I'm in the process of creating a product I want to launch Q2 next year. Part of the selling strategy will be the usage of the Rift.

    The fact that they're talking about "the final version will have this and that feature" without a) a roadmap, b) a release date and c) a concertation with the users/developers (well... they have their core developers they talk with; but then) makes me nervous. Currently it sounds like feature creep to me...

    Time for some facts...
