Custom environments removed in v81?

I've recently updated my quest to V81. I've been testing the new enviroments, they're ok, but pretty quickly I noticed that the classic enviroments were simply gone, I couldn't find them anywhere. I got scared, but after some searching, I learned that they were turned off due to being incompatible. Apparently, many of the furniture, walls, and geometry were missing were missing or glitching, etc.

I was relieved, thinking that, y'know, it was just a bug and it would be fixed at some point. It is a test channel after all. But now people are saying they'll not be coming back. Is that true? I really realy really REALLY hope not. They've very important to me, they help me relax, and I love changing them from time to time to break the routine, have something fresh and new.

While the new backgrounds are cool, they're all the same, with just background changes.

  • I have been using custom environments for years and not having the option to go back to is disappointing. I would be fine if they updated some of the old environments to use the new movement and adding some interactions, but outright removing the option in its entirety makes me sad that I can never go back to those old environments. And not to mention that the new movement isnโ€™t great too; Itโ€™s incredibly disorienting as someone who has used VR for years to completely force the vignette with no way to turn it off.

Look in your settings, there is something called "movement in world" - not sure about the exact term, my menu isn't in English

You can change the size of the vignette here, but - most important - you can turn it off.

I also can't bare the vingnette thing and turned it off๐Ÿ˜‰

I just got v81 ๐Ÿ˜€. Still no Navigator ๐Ÿ˜’. I immediately went into the Navigate World settings and turned off all the "comfort" (vignette) options and enabled smooth locomotion and turning. None of the setting changes worked until I did a hard reset on the Quest 3. Then the settings worked as expected. The 4 new environments are not bad; the textures and antialiasing are much improved (no shimmering). The "fish tank" environment looks almost identical to the old one, which was my favourite.
