Getting non vr games working in vr

While I really just made this to help my self I guess a discussion on the topic of getting non vr games working in vr would be good.

 I found a program called  VorpX but it cost money I thought nivida had something like that but seems to be for dated hardware. any one know a general way of getting 3d games working in vr more specifically the rift?

also this is supposed to be a actual thread so feel free to talk about the topic.

    Tridef works well with certain games and has a free 14day trial but this is essentially having a 3D screen filling your fov. You also need to use this with apps like bigscreen or virtual desktop. You can get fully immersed into games like this but you really need a top end gpu so you can up the resolution to 2k/4k otherwise it looks horrible.

    Some games have their own built in 3d like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Hitman.

    I have a 1070 and i thought the rift was only 1080p? or is that for a anti aliasing effect? and ill look at that tridef but i was looking for a long term free solution but thanks
