GIF as profile picture

I really want to have a GIF as my profile picture, I like the idea of animated profile pictures.

I don't what to type here in the rest, I just like GIFs

 

also, can someone give me a tutorial on how to reduce file size

    I just noticed this thread.

    I tried to get my animated gif profile pic from the forum to my horizon profile, and while I could upload it, it wasn't animated, it was just the static first frame of the gif. So no, I'm afraid animated gifs aren't displayed there.

    It wasn't particularly easy to upload either, iirc I think I ended up posting it to my facebook page as that seemed to be one of the few locations where the headset profile allowed me to look for eligible pics.

    Hey, CheezyGT! You should be able to use a GIF as your profile pic on the forums. It will need to be a small enough pixel size for it to fit. For my profile picture, it's 400x300, and it works great! (It's hard to see, but it has mist moving.)

    I recommend starting with a small size GIF, save it, then upload it as your profile picture. It should give you the option to crop the gif before you save it as a profile picture. Hope this helps!

      I forgot to mention, I meant meta horizon profiles to have GIFs

        I see. I'm not sure how gifs work with Horizon Worlds profile pictures, but I'm sure there are users on there who know how to do this. I suggest reaching out to their discord and checking with the community about being able to do this.

      it exceeds the file size, I've tried freeconvert but the max time is about 5 minutes, it will probably take about 3 hours to convert a 233 KB size file

    I see in the web interface the Horizon profile image upload only allows .png, .heic and .heif format. No jpg or gif. (What even is heic and heif?)

      I wonder if the gif was being converted in the process of going to my FB page, of from FB to horizon, that could explain the limited choice of locations that horizon was offering me, I'll double-check.

      Edit: my bad, it was a while back since I messed about with this so looks like I misremembered... the gif I uploaded was my Quest profile pic not my horizon pic. What confused me was the Quest pic offers you horizon screen-grab pics (and FB feed pics) as eligible uploads!

      i believe it used to support jpegs, I remember going onto that site and using a jpeg of my cat, now when I wanted to change it back to that picture of my cat, I had to suffix it with .png
