Had a UPS False Alarm Tonight, That I Thought Was It!
After a long, hot day, my wife and I had taken our dinners into our back bedroom to enjoy in the only air-conditioned room in our house, while watching a movie on our flat-screen HDTV, when one of our cell phones started ringing in our kitchen (where we stupidly left them) at 6:35 p.m. California time.
My wife got up, went to the kitchen and got our phones; and I checked the voice-mail that had been left on one of them.
The message was from our next-door neighbor, telling us that UPS had tried to deliver a package, but since our little 42" high fence-gate was locked, it had been left with our neighbors!
All I could think of, that might be coming our way by UPS, was of course, The Oculus Rift DK2, which I paid for completely with PayPal on March 21st.!
And I suddenly thought, "Hey, that's why there was no announcement today! They already arranged for UPS to deliver them all today instead!"
But due to a pinched nerve in my right hip at the moment, I asked my wife (without telling her what I was hoping for) if she could step over to our fence so the neighbor could hand her, "The Package!"
While I waited in our bedroom, all I could think of was her returning with an OculusVR box in her arms, while happily exclaiming, "It's Here!"
But all of the hopeful fantasies died quickly, when all she returned with, was a gray package containing a shirt that she had ordered for me...
Oh well...
There will be other days, and other UPS trucks...
But I didn't realize how much I was looking forward to my Oculus Rift DK2, until it didn't actually arrive, when I thought it had.
Don't you hate "false alarms?"
