How can a man learn to start dressing well?

I took a friend from my shopping lately, because he needed similar suggestions, and the only thing I picked up from his shopping preferences was that he limited his browsing to a few shops in which he felt relaxed.
Unfortunately, this meant this he tended to buy the same stuff (poorly built and not produced) that restricted his designs and looks.

My advice to all guys, is actually go shopping:

  • Browse more specialty shops (don't just go to variety stores)
  • Try on lots of different things even if you have no plans on buying rip lil peep hoodie (learn what looks good, what cuts, colors and styles work best for your body and goal)
  • Don't be afraid to walk into more expensive or top-brand stores (you'll be surprised how many bargains you can pick up).

Lastly, dressing well and looking great isn't about wearing expensive labels, it's about having great style, and knowing what works and what doesn't

  • Depends what your style is.
If you go for a time tested style go for business casual. And whatever you buy, go and have it tailored to your body so you get a good fit

My advice would be don't follow stupid trends, even if every @ hole is wearing it. It doesn't mean it's nice (thinking of those pants 4 inches too short and way too tight)
  • Some trends are okay to follow indirectly, in order to learn what looks appropriate for your own body type and age. For example, a 40+ year old man wearing baggy cargo shorts and knee high socks with flip-flops is a big no-no.

People should wear what they like and not put too much emphasis in to what others think, but that needs to be balanced with making sure you aren't so clueless that you end up looking like a clown just because you want to rebel against the norm.

Having said that, I agree with the OP's list. I have expanded my wardrobe using similar advice. I don't follow trends at all, but I do perform some research in order to get a taste of some proper styles.
  • Although I will say this,

The world is in a state of quarantine due to the global pandemic... so... the only way we'll all be dressing for months is in sleepwear! Pajamas all day, son!

Hey Thanks Gays for suggestions about fancy dressing

Not sure if this is a slur or a typo.
  • I'm going to choose to believe that he was calling us all... Happies.
