I can't get my head around what this means about the 3D on these televisions..?

ST30 is basic for 3D, GT & VT30 are better for 3D.

Just a note - I have had a Panasonic 3D TV for a few years - maybe the technology has improved since, but while the 3D image is good - I get a good 3D impression from my own 3D SBS vids on YT, recorded from the Rift - I have to sit directly in front of the Tv screen, level with it, at about 1m distance, to get a decent picture.
This was the same when I watched commercial 3D programs (Olympics, Walking With Dinosaurs).

I would test it first, to see how good it looks and check how accessable the 3D is, bearing this in mind.

The 3D quality is mostly based on the source material. For example a 3D Blu-Ray will have similar depth and look on any TV. Where the TVs may differ is in cross-talk (also sometimes called ghosting) which is when part of the image for one eye bleeds into the other. DLP has some of lowest cross-talk available, which is why I use that for my projector. Or in terms of resolution, such as with passive polarized TVs that split the resolution. But in either case, the objects on the screen will still have the same depth given the same size screen.

@Brixmis - What do you men when you say: "I get a good 3D impression from my own 3D SBS vids on YT, recorded from the Rift." I've not looked into this before. What is YT and what do you mean by recorded from the Rift? Cheers!

@cybereality or anyone else who knows the answer. Can these Plasma Tv's play games in 3D? I just use my 3D projector for 3D movies and 2D movies. I want a TV for 3D gaming rather then have to mess with the projector.

As long as it supports HDMI 1.4a standard 3D, you should be fine. Most 3DTVs made after around 2010/2011 should support it (but this is a good thing to double check in the TV's manual). 

I don't know if it is because I wear glasses or not - but whenever I see 3d whether on a 3dTV or in a theater, I get a headache and have to really concentrate to look for the 3d effect. However when I view 3d movies (SBS) in a HMD like the Rift or Google Cardboard I have no issues and can actually see the 3d effect.

@SimonSays28 - The eye strain is probably down to the refresh rate. The Rift has a 90Hz and it's a lot less on TV's I believe when using 3D.

That makes sense - when I finally saw the 3D effect in Google Cardboard I have to admit it is actually pretty cool.
Then actually seeing it close up in the Rift was amazing - but I wish there was SBS 3d content on Netflix available or some other streaming service.

Problem is 3D content is becoming less and less. I hope some film are still made in 3D, but given 3D televisions are becoming a thing of the past I'm not sure what will happen. Projectors still have 3d, so maybe it will be just used sparingly in cinema still and we still get to see some content at-least. I hope so because 3D on a projector is awesome..

The following is my musings on 3D and does not help the OP at all but it seems he has already had the answer for the question he asked.....

and the tech was just about ready to take off as well....... passive 3D on a 4K TV would have been great, with none of the downsides of pasive 3D on a 1080p set (passive 3D halves the resolution - no biggie for 4K) where as active 3d needs expensive glasses and i am convinced i can notice the flicker sometimes on my TV, not to mention they have to be charged before use and sometimes lose sync with the tv.

i am about to replace my 70 inch 1080p active 3D set with a 4K one... but the only set which comes close to me would be the TX-75EX750B (currently just over £2600 delivered from AO ebay store) however you are making massive compromises on the rest of the set for that price range just to get 3D (the Sony 75XE9005 is a similar price and spanks the panasonic tv in every department apart from no 3D).

And as others have said... now that 3D TVs are dead, how long before new stuff in 3D just ceases to come out...... I picked up a HDDVD drive days after the format died, but i paid very little for it...... i would be reticent now to make any compromises on buying a TV just to get 3D...

in a way all of us here are lucky, 3D movies work damn well in VR so arguably you could just buy a 2D TV then watch your 3D films in VR..... this will become easier, visually better and cheaper as more mobile VR hmds like the go come out, which will be well suited for tv.  you have to wear silly glasses anyway... may as well go all in and wear a silly HMD ;)

YT is YouTube - and I used to record a lot of flight sim stuff when using the Rift, with FlyInside mostly. You get two images, side by side - one for each eye, just as in the Rift, but with the 3D TV (or a VR headset and a prog like Virtual Desktop, for example) you see it as a single, 3D image.

I use a recording program that is fed from the output to the Rift - so it records that, rather than what you see on a monitor. When you then play it back, it appears in this side-by-side format.
