IS META A SCAM?

I PURCHASED A NEW QUEST 3 512 HEADSET (MY THIRD HEADSET...SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER APPRECIATION).  THE HEADSET DID NOT WORK THE SCREEN WOULD BREAK UP.  I SHIPPED THE HEADSET BACK TO META PER WARRANTY AND AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS AND NUMEROUS EMAILS META REPLACED MY BRAND-NEW UNIT WITH A USED UNIT.  SO BASICALLY, I PAID FULL RETAIL FOR A USED UNIT.  THE USED UNIT LASTED ABOUT A MONTH AND NOW BOOTS TO A BLACK SCREEN AND THEN POWERS OFF.  SO, IT APPEARS I NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY FOR THE USED UNIT...META TOOK MY $500+ DOLLARS AND IN RETURN I GOT TO BASICALLY 'RENT' A QUEST FOR 3 MONTHS...THEY MAKE IT NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AN ANSWER FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE...DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE HERE???  I REALLY FEEL META STOLE MY MONEY AND IS SELLING DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS WITHOUT WARRANTIES...

Your warranty is valid for the entire period of your newly purchased Quest.

If you receive a replacement device, this period also applies to that device.

Even if your original warranty has expired, you still have a 3-month warranty on the replacement device.
You said you have issues after a month, so actually you still should  have warranty.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

It does suck though, if a brand-new device was replaced with a refurbished one. Imagine if it was a new car 😬. The OP hasn't given any dates, so it's not entirely clear how old it was, though.

        Yes, it sucks.

I would not claim my warranty - and I never recommend that - if I had trouble with a headset from the beginning.

I always tell users...bring it back and get a new one or refund the headset and buy a new one.

        I'm not Meta.

        And I don't remember I promised you anything.πŸ˜‰

  • I can definitely relate to this experience.

Now, imagine getting paid in US dollars and purchasing your headset in Euros at full price.

I wouldn't mind a used headset if it were at an equal value to my new headset in terms of quality and functionality.

  • Hi Truffa3. Dude, stay away from Meta. They're like a cigarette company. They don't care one bit about us. Their "warranty" is just an endless process of returning headsets. They took mine after I only had it for 5 weeks before their software crashed it. Since my unit was pristine, and so new- i thought I'd be receiving a new one. But noooo. Meta has to hand us as much crap that passes off as "functional" to us on an endless loop; to make up for their own mistake. So now, WE as gamers all get completely robbed. Meta does NOT CARE one bit Dude. Thank God there's competition πŸ™

Maybe you didn't read the fine print on your warranty that says you will get a refurbished unit. The trick is to request a full refund if the headset is still new, then buy a new unit.

      Choleni gave the correct advice:

I would not claim my warranty - and I never recommend that - if I had trouble with a headset from the beginning.
